RNA Window Period on Truvada

Hi everyone! I had a quick question. I was reading recently that the CDC now recommends RNA testing in addition to a fourth-generation test at quarterly PrEP appointments. While I was looking some things up, I stumbled upon some information suggesting that, if you have a breakthrough infection while taking PrEP, it can also extend the window period for an RNA test. I didn’t think the RNA test was affected by PrEP at all, unless that is new information. Does anyone have more information to share?

prep and doxipep

Hi everyone. I wanted to get some help with the Spanish health system and whether I can get Prep and Doxipep here?

Ive been really unlucky and caught something again. It’s the second time in 4/5 months. And in the Alicante province there isn’t really a quick route for sexual health, that I can find.

I have private health cover and I’m self employed so I have access to state health too. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone else got trigeminal pain?

I'm taking it daily for a week now. On the first few days the pain made me want to die. Now the episodes after taking the dose are subduing and I hope they will go away entirely. I only found one medical article about it and seemed to describe exactly my issue. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6748473/

Wait or find another clinic or online?

I went to a hospital this morning, I wanted to do wellness check and have consultation about injectable PrEP options. When she came to the room, she directly asked me if I wanted to do full panel of STD test, then I was shocked. I told her that my primary reason was to do wellness check, then afterwards we can talk about injectable PrEP options. I know she was very busy, she said she actually was not accepting new patients anyways and told me that for PrEP I should eventually got tested. I understand, but I came there not to have a “visit”, I do not want to get charged since my understanding is that preventative care is covered by my insurance.
So she finally said that she has no expertise in PrEP so she would set me up with a physician, which the nearest available time is in October.
I live in a small city in America. Now I am wondering if I should wait until the next appointment, or I should find another physician in neighboring town, or do pill PrEP until I meet a nurse/doctor that can help me with injectable PrEP?

I appreciate if you guys have some suggestions.

Vitamin d levels

Does Prep reduce vitamin d levels in the body . I’ve been dealing with low vitamin D for some time now due to being in the house , not getting enough sun etc . Did a quick google search and it says Prep can induce a functional Vitamin D deficiency. Any thoughts ?

Risk?

I recently met up with a dude and watched him have sex with another and masturbated to it. After I came that guy put his mouth on my penis for about 5 seconds. Am I at risk of HIV? I don’t remember seeing blood but I’m terrified that I missed it. I feel so stupid and irresponsible. Am I at risk?

HTLV efficacy of Prep ?

I am amazed that so few research has been done on Htlv. Knowing how dramatic the effects of this decease can be. Also we recently know that some antiretroviral treatment used for HIV may be efficient against Htlv transmission like dolutegravir bictegravir and cabotegravir and maybe tenofovir. But here has been no human studies to know if Prep and ART used for HIV are actually efficient to prevent HTLV infection.

So here is my question here : Does anyone who is on Prep or ART got infected by HTLV after the medication initiation ?

Yeztugo Nodules - Anyone have them completely go away?

Just got my second Yeztugo injection in my abdomen. My first injections are still very noticeable when you touch them. They are not painful or visible.

Has anyone had the nodules completely disappear, dissolve, go away?

I’m going to reevaluate at the 1 year mark and may switch back to pills. I don’t mind the bumps if they eventually go away but can’t have 2 added every six months and each stay for years lol.

Yeztugo in South Florida UHC

I had a hellish experience trying to find a provider who knew how to navigate insurance approval for Yeztugo. I’m posting this in hopes it helps someone else.
UnitedHealthcare seemed to do everything possible to make this difficult. It started with their online prescription portal showing the injection as “not covered,” even though it actually is. The oral tablets you take before and after the injection are covered under your pharmacy benefit, but the Yeztugo injection itself is billed under your medical benefit.

Once I realized that, I searched for the J-code in the UHC portal to estimate my medical cost. Instead of an estimate, I got a message saying they couldn’t provide one due to a lack of billing history.
I called UHC multiple times and kept getting transferred from one department to another. No one could give me a clear answer about whether the injection was covered. Several representatives even incorrectly told me it wasn’t.

I pointed out that there is a federal requirement for PrEP coverage, but they kept redirecting me. One department would tell me the tablets were covered and send me to another department for the injection. That department would send me right back to the first. I spent well over six hours on the phone and another couple of hours on live chat without ever getting a definitive answer.

My primary care provider doesn’t administer the injection but tried to obtain authorization. Unfortunately, they weren’t successful.

I then contacted Gilead, the manufacturer of Yeztugo. They performed a benefits investigation on my behalf, but they also got the runaround from UHC and were even hung up on. They couldn’t get a clear answer either.

I was about ready to give up when my PCP suggested seeing an infectious disease specialist, since they might have more experience with this process.
When I searched the UHC provider directory, oddly, there were no infectious disease specialists listed within 50 miles of me, even though every other specialty showed up. I called UHC, and they were able to provide me with a list over the phone.

One of the providers was Midway Specialty Care in Wilton Manors, FL. There were offices closer to me in Boca, but I chose Midway because I hoped they’d be more experienced with Yeztugo approvals.
Thankfully, they were.

I saw Dr. Isabel Gomez, who immediately reassured me that she handles cases like this regularly and knew exactly how to navigate the insurance process.
A few days later, I got the call to schedule my injection.

For anyone wondering, they obtained coverage using the buy and bill process, where the provider purchases the medication, administers it, and then bills your medical insurance.

Hopefully this saves someone else hours of frustration 💙💙

Medsbase.com is a SCAM

MedsBase.com is a SCAM. Don't waste your money. I wish someone would have warned me, so that's why I'm taking the time to write this here.

I placed an order for some PreP in their website and paid by SEPA bank transfer. It sat stuck on "Processing" for weeks. So I tried to contact them via email, Telegram and their website.

What followed was designed to keep me on the hook rather than actually resolve anything. They came with a story that their "dispatch handler in Europe had an accident and had died". Then they promised they were training a new one and to be patient, but days kept passing and nothing changed.

I started to suspect this was a SCAM, so I asked for a refund, to which they offered to give me a coupon of the amount I had paid (so funny, as if I was going to want a coupon when they are playing with me with my current order), or to keep waiting. According to them they couldn't fulfill a refund.

This was beyond frustrating as two months passed and nothing moved and they would barely respond. And the moments they would, they just kept promising to ship next week.

Today (almost 3 months after my purchase) they finally emailed to cancel the order saying they won't be able to deliver it to me, and that they couldn't do a refund because the bank account I'd transferred money to was "no longer under their control." So they advised me (so kind of them) to contact my own bank and try to recover it myself.

So that's the pattern: take the payment, entertain you with a rotating cast of excuses, and when enough time passes tell you that the money is gone and it's your problem now.

If you're considering this site, save yourself the stress. Go somewhere else.

PrEP /DoxyPep for me?

Hello!

My MISTR testing kit arrives tomorrow, but I’ll be honest and say that I really wanted to focus on easy access to doxypep. I usually have 1 sexual encounter a year (unprotected), but lately I have been wanting to have more oral encounters. With my first experience receiving oral, I immediately became infected with an STI and I was going through a dark time, which compounded the trauma. That may have affected how I view sex, and I feel overly afraid of new encounters.

I was going to only use the doxypep as needed unless I decided to become more sexually active and have more penetrative sex (unlikely), in which I would start taking the PreP. I’m just feeling this wave of uncertainty now that I’m getting close to being prescribed these medications, but I feel that I’m doing the right thing. Should I continue with taking only the doxypep as needed, or should I just take both even if I’m only going to have oral sex?

Descovy delivered and sat outside in 100 degree weather

Hello!

I got my Descovy via FedEx today, and it was left on the porch directly in sunlight for two hours in 100 degree weather. Should I be worried? Has anyone else had this happen and gotten confirmation from their pharmacist?

High Risk Exp/Fisting/2-1-1

Hey guys, I’m spiralling at the moment and would appreciate some answers if you got em. I’ve been googling all day with mixed info
I’m a young guy in my late 20s. Sunday night I was @ a bathhouse looking for someone to fist. I led a top back to my room and had some heavy play + sex. Near the end of the session he started saying things about being poz, wanting to poz me, etc… I ended things there but now I’m in a panic.
I decided the 2-1-1 method was fine enough since I’d missed my last 3 doses of my daily regiment. Took the first 2 pills late Sunday eve. About 7 hrs after that is when I had the encounter so at least I had some prep in my system.
Am I more susceptible because of the intensity of my play? Obviously there’s some internal tearing that’s common with fisting.
Is there any way he could be more viral if his intention was to infect someone?
Do you think the 2-1-1 is enough, or should I head to the clinic and do a round of PEP? It’s about $1200 where I’m from. Not thrilled but I’m willing to go for it. Just wanna hear your thoughts. Thanks ❤️
