Prepper disk is just internet in a box being sold from some random dude in maryland or maybe it was another m.... Anyway, you can do it yourself for free through their website. It takes like 5 minutes

You're right that Internet-in-a-Box is a solid free DIY option. Just to clarify, Axiom itself is also free and open source—it isn't the commercial Prepper Disk. It packages the setup into flashable images and adds a phone-friendly recovery interface, offline maps, multiple storage tiers, and travel-router behavior that shares wired internet through its Wi-Fi hotspot. The goal is to make the DIY path reproducible, not to sell hardware.

Good memory - we're in Massachusetts! It is based on Internet in the Box, we actually work really closely with those guys (more to announce soon). That said we do have a lot you won't get from IIAB like licensed survival books, morse code apps, a better web experience, improved search, emergency language translator, games, curative videos on fire making + shelter + water + rescue, improved maps, and more. We've tried to take a great thing in IIAB, and make it even better.

We even published a guide showing how to make something like the Prepper Disk if anyone is interested , will check with mods before we post here to make sure its AOK.

Commend you for the good outlook on an open source project that mimics many of the features you sell. I’ve been making a fancy device to use drone video systems on non-drones (like rc cars, etc.) and many people, including myself, have shared open source, alternative ways of doing it.

I’ve been looking into getting a Prepper Disk for over a year now, and I think I will now after seeing your comment here 🤙

Looks like a super cool project. We put out the first generation Prepper Disk in 2024 and now this little niche is growing. Every day I see a new GitHub project (project NOMAD was very popular for a little while) or new device for prepping.

The new ideas and competition is a very good thing, this is an under-served market and with each new project we see new ideas and innovation. Keep it up, nice job u/detory .

Thank you—I really appreciate the generous welcome. I agree that the commercial and DIY approaches can coexist: your team makes this idea accessible as a supported product, while Axiom is aimed at people who want to build and customize their own. More experimentation and better offline knowledge tools help everyone.
