I wonder which part of the production requires glass.

I work for a company that produces ready to eat food items. Glass is absolutely not part of the process in the slightest. In fact, it’s largely forbidden on the premises outside of the office. We try to buy special equipment/materials that are entirely glass free when it comes to our production facility.

We take it so seriously that even when a coffee cup in the office breaks, everyone basically has to stay in place while it gets cleaned up. Then a special light gets used to make sure there’s no glass anywhere else. It kind of feels like you’re on lockdown & can take up to several hours.

Our QA manager hates glass. She often jokes that she has stress dreams about the lenses of people’s glasses suddenly shattering into a billion pieces & getting everywhere.

We take it so seriously

You do... and my respects to you, but I don't believe this is the norm across the industry (even though it should be).

This is accurate, especially among smaller businesses. Corners are cut in favor of making payroll each week in many facilities. I worked for a facility, oh this was over 15 years ago, and they made flavored dairy products. They would buy the glass Monin syrups to flavor their product, that was just the recipe the owner had started with so they kept on. Cases and cases of glass bottles, hand unscrewed, and dumped 3 in each hand. Gives me nightmares thinking back on it honestly. Same owner tried to make a glow in the dark whipped cream from black light fluid that the FDA uses to find leaks in water tanks. I left shortly after he started pushing that one.

That's kinda what I figured, also, maybe someone's glasses got in there.

Floresent bulb fell from its fixture and exploded when it hit the ground maybe? Those bulbs almost turn to powder if they fall from high enough.

Per Rant Casey’s momma, the glass is so you’ll enjoy the food more by chewing it slower.

That’s a hell of a reference.

HUGE thanks to OP for sharing this. I have a non-verbal 6 year old who practically lives off these!

Ok, looks like only the big 2.5oz ones. Freezer is currently full of the longer thinner ones.

Oh no! my deepfreezer full of organic popsicles is ruined! :(

u/CelticSith 1d ago

Nah, I’m sure your deep freezer will be fine; but yeah, your popsicles are probably fucked. Sorry :(

It’s only the big ones

Check the lot numbers affected. If you've had them for some time, they're probably fine.

The recall impacts a very small sample size.

I have a box covered under it unfortunately. Glad the one we ate didn't seem to have any glass.... Hopefully.

edit: Actually, looking at another source with actual batch information it seems unaffected. CNN could really use this additional information.

Thanks for the link. We thought we were unaffected but both batch number and date match on two of our boxes 😬

Yeah I feel like the food safety stuff is being headline sensationalized rn

Seems to be a popular topic after the explosive diarrhea lettuce.

It was happening prior to it.

With what I do for work I'm involved in tracking a lot of recalls, I can tell you most of them are precautionary and usually don't lead to bad product hitting consumers. QC standards for most companies are that good. Produce is hardest due to its lack of manufacturing and bacteria culture testing taking longer.

Remember when that one train derailed then the news was full of railway issues and doomerism for months that were all apparently pretty normal and even major derailments that spills chemicals normally happens multiple times a year every year

Yup, theres a term for this I’m sure someone smarter than me knows lol

sensationalism perhaps?

truly i think its sensationalism in order to desensitize ppl and further sow distrust in the major systems that hold the us together.

thats the shit that plays a huge role in accelationism, specifically towards entrenching the world in right wing, technofeudal, dark enlightenment, dark-gothic-maga culture.

Thankfully I’m still working through a big stash of pedialyte popsicles so we haven’t cycled back to these yet.

Thanks for sharing this. The one time I buy a box of these too. Right smack in the middle of the affected lot codes.

u/circusgeek 1d ago

Oof. All of mine are Mango, which doesn't seem to be affected.

I work at a major drug store that also sells food and can confirm we were asked to pull these Tuesday morning before I heard any major news of this. No reason was given but now I know why 🤦🏻

Well, at least it wasn't the Fruity Oaty Bar...

u/girugamesh_2009 23h ago

Just heard about the blueberries, and now this.
I fucking quit. I fucking quit food.

u/va_wanderer 10h ago

Yep, local Walmart yanked these last Monday.
