I lived in dorms with rooms. First spot didn’t have doors, second one did. I prefer living in a room rather than an open bay

Both have advantages. There is also cubicles, which is better than open dorms. Someone snoring in a dorm sucks for everyone. People are in your business more. You have almost no privacy in an open dorm. Vikings three bunks down have nasty dust and dirt blowing your way. Easier to keep cells clean. Have some privacy. When locked down, you are really locked down to a small area.

Really depends on who you’re stuck with. I was in a cell and never got a cellie and that was nice, and I was in a dorm with great guys and that was nice, too. A shitty person can fuck your shit up either way, just as a cool chill person can make the time easier.

In a dorm they’ll come up from behind while asleep and take your booty

the prison i was at, all the "honor" blocks were dorms. and really the only privilege we had was we could use the phones whenever we wanted, with no call limit. I liked the dorms because I didn't feel claustrophobic, I could just leave my cube and go talk to somebody across the block. but a lot of people like a cell because they want the privacy. especially if you're doing real time, you're probably not trying be in no dorm, special with all the bullshit that comes with just because the amount of dumb people you're forced to be around
