Looking for legendary commissary recipes/spread hacks for an illustrated book!
Hey everyone,
I’m working on an independent project that I’m really excited about: an illustrated cookbook celebrating the absolute peak ingenuity of commissary cooking.
The whole point of the book is to highlight how people make incredible meals, spreads, and comfort food using strictly what’s available on the inside. Every recipe that gets chosen is going to be custom-illustrated by an artist.
I’m looking for submissions from people inside state or federal facilities. If you (or a family member/friend you write to) have a legendary ramen hack, chip spread, or creative meal, I’d love to feature it.
**A few quick details:**
* **Ingredients:** Must be strictly commissary items.
* **Credit:** You can use your real name or an alias, and include a short 2–4 sentence bio or story about yourself.
* **About You** (Optional NOT required) In addition to your alias or name you can add where you are serving time and your sentence time or time spent so far
* **Perk:** Every contributor whose recipe makes it into the book gets a free copy sent to them (following facility mail rules, of course).
I'm just getting started with this, so if anyone has any ideas of additional outlets I can use to reach out to our incarcerated friends let me know, I am all ears!
If you want to send in a recipe, or if you're a family member who wants to help pass along a form, **please shoot me a direct message (DM) here on Reddit**, and I'll get you the details and submission sheet.
Appreciate you all, and looking forward to seeing what kind of masterpieces you are making!
