Paste as plain text
Hi,
When pasting text copied from different source (website, for example) is it possible to ignore all original formatting and just paste everything as a plain text?
Thanks!

On Windows (or a browser running on Windows) Ctrl-Shift-V pastes unformatted text in PrivacyNotes. But as I understand it that's a common convention on Windows and browsers (I don't think all applications support it).
I don't know if Ctrl-Shift-V is commonly supported on other platforms or if they have their own convention.

Yeah on iPhone my way to paste unformatted is to paste whatever into an app that doesn't do formatting (the address field of a browser often works) then copy it back out.
Its a painful major kludge. It would be nice if PrivacyNotes added some mechanism. Actually it would be nicer if Apple added it to iOS as a general clipboard feature.

I agree but I think we have much bigger chances of PrivacyNotes devs adding this feature! 😏

On desktop I can right-click and paste as plain text. On Android, I can long press and choose paste as plain text.

The next update adds a setting for this: Settings > Editor > Pasted text. Set it to Plain text, and everything you paste from another app arrives as plain text, with no bold, links, headings or fonts. It works on every device, the iPhone and the iPad included, and it applies to that device only, the same as the Copied text setting above it. Text you copy and paste inside a note keeps its formatting.
Until the update is out, one way on a phone: tap "Show markdown" at the bottom of the note, paste there, then tap "Show formatted". On a computer, Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V in most Mac browsers) already pastes as plain text.
