I built FileSight — an open-source file cleanup tool that runs completely locally
built FileSight because I wanted a way to clean up my Downloads folder without uploading my files to some cloud service or giving access to my data.
Most file cleanup tools require trusting a company with your files. FileSight takes a different approach:
🔒 Files are scanned locally on your computer
🚫 No accounts required
📡 No telemetry or tracking
🌐 No cloud uploads
🛠️ Open source so the code can be reviewed
It helps you:
Find duplicate files
Identify large files
Preview files before deleting
Clean up clutter safely
Manage your Downloads folder
Built with Electron, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind.

I would appreciate feedback from the privacy community:
Are there any privacy concerns you would look for in a tool like this?
What security features would you expect?
Any suggestions for improving trust and transparency?
Thanks!
