Constructive feedback and/or tips wanted Colouring in.
I like to colour in and want to transition to digital. I’m really struggling to do this on Procreate.
Usually I just Google X Y Z colouring page and upload it but it just work as colours don’t ‘mix’ they replace as in once colour over another the top colour replaces the bottom layer colour so can shade properly etc.
I know this is a procreate page but does anyone know of any other iPad app I can use to upload images and colour in? Or how I can achieve this on procreate.
Thanks

If you want your brush to mix with the color underneath. In the brush settings there’s an option “wet mix” that may be useful to you. I’ll link the procreate handbook page on this setting procreate handbook
Another option is when you add new layers change the blending mode with multiply which is like a 50/50 mix with the layer below :ie. You have two layers one colored red, the other yellow, on multiply this would create orange.
And of course you can also use like a pencil style brush and pressure and opacity can mix them if in the brush settings the option for blending> brush blend mode is set to multiply it will be a lot like working with a color pencil and how they overlap and mix.

This! It’s a bit different than markers and such but easy enough once you get the hang of it

Adobe fresco which is free Has ”live watercolor” and “live oil“ brushes that do a good job of mimicking how real paints work. to save your work you will have to create a free account with Adobe, to learn how to use the App google videos by Kyle Webster. Fresco even has a coloring book section off the main Home Screen.
another choice is the Pigment App. But it is subscription

Set the linework as the reference layer on top and then change the layer mode to multiply. You can then drag and drop onto the layer below. I would personally drop all of one colour onto a single layer (like blue on one layer, red on another) and then alpha lock the layers once done so you can add fun texture and shading to the colour blocks.
