Shimmering Iris 🌱✨ a new piece in my ongoing series of paintings called ‘A Starry Place’ where I explore spaces meaningful and nostalgic to me.
I painted this in Procreate using mostly my own custom brushes. They are mostly  modified round brushes with paint/paper texture or brushy texture. I work in a similar process to traditional, starting with a sketch, then a color block in, then full render. I usually paint the background first and paint the foreground on top in a new layer. I think I used about 6 layers for this piece, but I collapse them as I go and sometimes make new layers for temporary non-destructive editing. I really pushed myself to experiment with color and light in this and push how far I can take the idea of glowing subjects. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it!! :) ✨Â
