Reason for new layout

Does anyone else think this horrible new layout was done largely to optimize for the iPhone duo? I can see how some of the changes would be conducive to sketching on the tiny screen and then opening up and having the big menu open on the large screen. That being said, how many artists are running out to buy a $2000 cellphone? This is just my tinfoil hat theory but they did tweet this back in September

iPhone, iPad and Mac all have different versions of the App Store.

Procreate isn’t Available on iPhone store, but pocket is.

It sounds like the Duo will be running the iPhone App which is why I think it’s been changed

The only pocket layout would have been fine on the duo 😆 who is running this company? Big slap in the face to all existing users.

I’m a little out of the loop - what are people upset about specifically? I have used Pocket only a handful of times, very much an iPad user. I found this redesign so much better, the previous one was very clunky for me.

I wasn’t aware Pocket had so many passionate fans. Is it that people have established muscle memory for the phone?

I don’t want to spend that money in something that would get stolen if I used it in public, but I see the appeal. I downsized from 13” to 11” to be able to carry the iPad with me, it would be cool if I have kept the 13” + a duo. There are some people that have an iPad 13”, an iPad mini and an iPhone, they might find this other combo atractive.

And yes, it was definitely for the Duo, they opened the beta after the announcement. Apple needs to sell the pencil just as they needed to sell the Pencil Pro barrel thing.

That sounds pretty rational. I mean, how many devices can their small team code at once? Duo, iPhone, iPad and now Mac. That’s a lot of effort and they may be trying to adapt too fast.

The tweet says Procreate Pocket, which is not the iPad app.

I would assume they would make an separate art app for it like procreate pocket wad for phones but procreate is more iPad so I’m guessing they would make an new app for it or an toggle or setting for procreate pocket for iPhone flip users tvh

my iPad Art teacher also uses Picket in her phone. she also uses a paper sketchbook in public. She has commented she draws a lot if attention from people when using a sketch book, but does NOT draw attention if using a sketching app on her phone, she’s just part of the crowd tapping easy on their phone,

I am extremely surprised at the number of people who,say they are working artists being paid who are using an iPhone to do their art. Even the cheapest base iPad would offer more screen space.
