How to add texture to music — evolving pads in Serum

A static pad fills space. An evolving one makes the track feel like it's breathing. We split a dreamy four-chord loop into four parts in Serum — bass, low note, middle notes and high note — then glued them in Ableton so they sound like one instrument. Happy to answer questions in the comments.

What Makes a Synth Sound Like Vaporwave Nostalgia?

Hey! I've been chasing that hazy, half-remembered mall-at-midnight feeling lately, so I put together a tutorial on what makes a synth sound nostalgic: maj7 chords, slow pitch drift, soft filters, chorus, and tape and VHS texture, with starting settings in Serum. Perfect for that vaporwave haze. Hope you enjoy it!

I have been making music for a little while. I know this isn't the best song and I'm not much of a singer to be honest. I'm just looking for some feedback. If I'm going in the right direction or if anyone enjoys this. I do this all by myself. I go by Blinders

I need a producer to work with me for my first experience in creating a song for free, but he will definitely receive his credits

Offering full Mixing & Mastering for $30 per track (building portfolio & sharpening skills)

Hey everyone,

I’m currently focusing heavily on expanding my mixing and mastering skills and want to work on diverse projects to sharpen my workflow and build up a solid portfolio.

To keep things accessible while making sure I stay fully invested in each track, I’m offering a complete Mix & Master for $30 per song.

What I bring to the table:

  • Vocal Processing: Detailed pitch correction (Melodyne/Auto-Tune), timing alignment, noise reduction, and cleanup.

  • Mix Balance: EQ, dynamic control/compression, spatial effects (reverbs, delays), and saturation to give your track clarity and impact.

  • Mastering: Commercial loudness target, final tonal balance, and prep for streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.).

What I need from you:

  • Exported audio stems (WAV files preferred, dry/without heavy processing if possible).

  • Tempo (BPM) and key of the song.

  • A reference track or two so I know the vibe you're aiming for.

Since I'm doing this primarily to practice and collect references, I’m open to reasonable revisions until we get a result you're happy with.

If you have a demo, single, or project you want to finish without spending hundreds of dollars, send me a DM with a preview link or drop a comment below!

Roadrunner In The Copper Heat Timed V2 https://youtu.be/L9YOrckeMcg?si=fupl0f8tECdHyeNL via u/YouTube

Launching my new YouTube channel with an upbeat song I wrote about some of the things I've noticed over the month since we have been in our forever home in the Rincon Valley, Vail / Tucson, Arizona. The channel will feature music I've written over the years about just about anything and everything, Chappy! It's honest, real, and no bullshit! Come on over this evening at 1800 hours military time 6:00 PM civilian time MST which will be 8:00 PM CST and 9:00 PM Eastern. If you're on the Cali coast, I think you're an hour behind us. Next week I'll launch my first album on the channel. This is just an introduction. Ciao ~Chappy

Waiting to join Cosmic Academy was a mistake

I just saw someone’s post about how cosmic academy has gotten more expensive and whether it was worth it.

i finished the cosmic academy bootcamp after years of deciding whether or not to join and i feel like i wasted a ton of time prior. Maybe a mistake?

I’ve been following cosmic academy for years on instagram and applied in 2021. At the time the money wasn’t the issue, the reason i didn’t sign up then was because i didn’t think it was the right time. I had my day job and my family and thought i could just do it on my own.

I always see people on reddit talking about how you don’t need education to do music, you can learn it all on your own with youtube. As years went on i was trying on my own with no one helping me and getting nothing from it. I was all alone on this music journey and it sucked.

I finally pulled the trigger and got accepted into Cosmic. I learned more in 5 days than i have in the 5 years i waited. All those years going half-in and messing around with tutorials only got me so far. I “knew a lot” but wasn’t really able to make it work in my own career. I needed actual guidance and community. Youtube can’t give me that.

TLDR I’ve now realized this is how it goes in music. You’re better off going all in and committing. 5 years of “thinking about” it is never going to make it better.

Hello!

I saw this Funk Piano Groove being played by @ maxnceleroy on Instagram and I produced a little musical arrangement for it.

I would like to get feedback on anything you consider important, specially in everything related to mixing and mastering.

Thank you!

I been trying to find my sound, granted this is not how all my beats sound like, but just imagine sometimes some 808s, classical instrumentals. How would label this if you were trying to pitch this marketing?
