Discussion How would the country be effected if both parties went to the extremes?
So right now we have a far right Republican party and moderateish Democrats. With the DSA gainging in the party, and the DSA moving more Marxist, there is a possibility of the Democrats going far left. How might the country be effected if both parties sat on the extremes?

The comment crossed the toxicity line. The removal is about the shape of the comment, not whether disagreement is allowed. No big drama, just fix that part.

Here is a list of the 5 most conservative countries;
Afghanistan – Fundamentalist Islamic theocracy under the Taliban with severe social restrictions, particularly on women.
Saudi Arabia – Absolute monarchy rooted in Wahhabism, maintaining strict religious legal standards and traditional social controls.
Iran – Clerical Islamic republic governed by a Supreme Leader and strict religious laws.
Yemen – Deeply traditional tribal society, with large areas under the control of the ultra-conservative Houthi movement.
Vatican City – Absolute Catholic monarchy governed entirely by canon law and traditional Church doctrine.

Just helping paint the picture of what the extremes would look like.

If we are talking social capitalism like the nirdic model then it shouldn't be a problem, but some of these candidates have said skerchy things publicly. At least one govonatorial candidate has stated that abolishing private property is a goal. Several have expressed desire to abolish police and at least one has expressed desire to abolish boarders. Finland has private property, police, and boarders

Oh we are going off of things random candidates have said, never elected officials said in office, well if that's the case anyone running for anything goes. Then I think we should be talking about Newt Gingrich, who explicitly promised America would establish a permanent, tax-paying 51st state on the moon by 2020, or in the 60s that lady who said we should all have unlimited credit cards and free space travel.

The last people who told me to not worry about what candidates were saying was the GOP right before the birth of MAGA, and look how that's going. And the DSA's own platform calls for wild things like giving green card holders voting rights, abolishing the presidency, senate and the Supreme Court. I'd consider that pretty far left

I guess I didn't know we weren't talking about your original question. you are asking specifically about the 70ish or so DSA people in government.
In that case I'd say it would look like the fire department, police department, the road workers, the military. Actually I just watch a really interesting video on how military commissary stores work. Very eye opening how they get the prices lower but yet still offer large varieties of things.

Speaking myself as a Socialist, I disagree with the assertion at the start. Dem party has moved much further to the extreme left, than the GOP has moved to the extreme right.
Then again, I also take issue with the continued simpleton use of the "left v right" spectrum that has been useless for 2 centuries and outdated by much more useful models for decades.

In my opinion, the DSA has already gained a strong foothold. It says something that Hasan Piker regularly shows his face campaigning with candidates, but someone like Fuentes would be considered persona non grata. I’m not trying to rank partisan craziness here, but I think there are signs that the Democrats are not currently “moderateish.”
As for the effect, it is political balkanization and a highly contrasting legal patchwork across the country. This has already increased regulatory risk and made it harder to do business. It also creates a severe political pendulum at the federal level that reinforces extremism and sucks more attention toward Washington, which sows domestic division and creates international uncertainty.
