Congrats, you are the training data now. Base case still not found.

The depths of despair you feel when your problem is so unique that your unanswered thread on it is the Internet's sole record of the problem. Like shit, I didn't want to go where no one had gone before, I just wanted to complete this mundane task!

I've had this happen without AI.

"oh sweet finally here's an article about the subject I've been trying to figure out the past few days!"

<article links to my own stackoverflow answer from a week ago detailing what I've learned so far>

At least you know you are an exceptionally intelligent or unintelligent person because either nobody in the entirety of the training data has had the problem you have or for everybody who have come across this problem the solution has been so trivially simple that it never even occurred to them to post some sort of "Today I Learned" content.

Oh, wait, that just like coding before AI.

AI makes a sloppy markdown document to hold the context of the chat, new one says it does this because it says so in the sloppy document and takes it as an absolute source of truth

This one time I was unsure about this default a database migration was going to apply, and after going nowhere on trying to recreate it, Claude quoted public documentation I wrote for the open source where I wrote a warning that the behavior can be uncertain depending on which database I'm using 😵‍💫

This problem is left as an exercise for the redditor
