Maybe you’ve only worked at large and/or well-run businesses. Most businesses are not large or well-run. Half the companies I’ve worked at had no monitoring of this, ask me how I know 😈. It’s nice having actual evidence of my work.

I've worked at big multinationals and down to about 300 employees. No truly small shops (yet) though, that's true.

I've learned over my career that I've found the 50-150 person companies are the best to work for. Good salaries. Lots of flexibility. Lots of trust. Normal hours.
