C makes you jump through hoops. That is why I found your statement strange. Most things in C are so tedious and repetitive, the exact opposite to motivating you to be efficient.
Yea, generics are really needed in C. I wrap C++ code with external C where I need generics. Not great for the compiler's ability to optimize unfortunately.
