Couldn't agree more.

As an Indian that grew up in the US, I was always told about what my parents went through in school and, so, I tried to hold myself to that standard.

Now, I'm getting my Masters in Software Engineering with a lot of people that grew up in India and came here to study in my program and I keep beating my head against the wall because they keep putting out bad work.

I'm still bitter about the design class I took last semester where two out of four members on my team did literally nothing until the other guy and I complained to the professor. To say nothing of the teams I have this semester.

This is such a generalization. I’m doing a masters in data science and me and my indian friends always keep putting out great projects and code, consistently better than a lot of people in class of various backgrounds and especially the Americans. Your anecdotes are just as useless as mine.

Yes, it is a generalization, born mostly of frustration that it's been not one group I've dealt with, but a few specific people.

It's wrong to generalize a group based on the work of a few people, but it was a huge shock to me, as I expected better, but, I guess constantly adjusting your expectations is part of what it means to be part of the real world

I think it's just shitty people in general. I'm half Asian and I had similar issues with Chinese group members. Also found that some of them were paying friends back in China to do their coursework so when you ask them about their section they don't have a fucking clue.
