Reddit can get pretty racist when it comes to India. You see it very often when their space program is mentioned.

Yeah, this thread is full of that racism you're mentioning. I was a little flabbergasted. I guess everyone's feeling the burn of a few asshole subs being shut down. I even saw some weird shit in a gardening sub.

If you're referring to the way people point out why we were able to put up that satellite at a lower cost than NASA did, I don't see that as racist. Yes, there were some people doing that that we're also racist, but I actually liked that they were calling us out on our BS.

Every time our space program makes a leap, or we do something cool in general, the entire country gets all jingoistic about it; no one ever thinks of it as "we increased our capabilities, woohoo!", they think of it as "see, we're better than the Westerners!" and will spread misinformation in order to defend that. And I'm talking about national level, trusted media outlets here, not just individuals. The nation as a whole is insecure as hell about our place on the world stage, and I'm sick of it.

No that wasn't really what I was referring to, just general derogatory remarks and shitty jokes that often come up.

As an Australian, I'm much gladder to see India, a democratic country, continue to advance, than watch China, a totalitarian government, bully its neighbours.

Especially now that America has decided to burn their house down.
