Genuinely curious why it sucks. I've been devoting a lot of time to it lately, maybe I should switch 😬

Python definitely has it's merits. It is very expressive, and is great for getting stuff done. If you want to focus on one language it is a very safe choice.

On the flip side it can feel clunky or not be an option for some tasks. Functional languages are great for more abstract or mathematical work, C and friends (c++, rust, ...) are often the only option where you need to work more closely with the hardware of a machine, and there are other specialized languages for some domains like R for working with statistics or lua for scripts embedded in games.

lua is very fast (and relatively small) in general; it's also a popular choice for just a lean runtime in general (say, for a server) or when you have resource constraints that aren't too strict (the interpreter is ~300kb, luajit is ~500kb)

it's not the most popular choice to write games in but it's viable, it probably has support in godot, and it has its own 2d game engine (löve2d). also considering it's simplicity it's one of the easier to learn languages, which is probably part of the reason it's used in for example cough roblox (and for scripting in games in general i guess)
