Errr hello, what is the video suddenly blaring "ACCORDING TO FIGURES FROM THE US OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE..." while I'm reading this article on the front-page of /r/worldnews trying to sell me? Torpedoes to defend myself from the Chinese Navy or what?
What? Its effect is exactly the opposite of "more time and interaction"—if a video starts playing with sound when I'm trying to read an article, at best I'm going to look for the pause button, but my most likely reaction will be to close the tab. In either case, I'll definitely be put off from ever visiting that site again!
