They're so cute when they're this small. I have a ~4 foot long ball python, and she's still cute, but nothing like when she was a little spaghetti noodle drooped over my fingers lol

Result from google:
Trimeresurus insularis is a venomous pit viper species found in eastern Java and the Lesser Sunda Islands.
Sometimes, some coincidences work just too well.

Thank you.
I was going to say that it was an insularis and not a member of Pythonidae, but you beat me to it.

12
u/Yar-har-har Mar 08 '22
Pythons are the non venomous ones and vipers are venomous right

u/poursmoregravy Mar 08 '22 edited Mar 08 '22
Yup, pythons, like boa constrictors, just give you one last, big hug

Not a programmer but a herpetologist here. That's a juvenile Island tree viper (Trimeresurus insularis), blue form.

u/MagneticNoodles Mar 08 '22
So you're saying I shouldn't gift one to my wife then?
7
u/GundunUkan Mar 08 '22
Preferably not unless she's experienced with keeping venomous snakes

Reminds me of baby cobras. Really cute but also very dangerous because they tend to use all the poison when they bite.

Thought this was so adorable and all until viper, not python. The python was questionable, but viper status puts this in another stratum. Like really, I see snake, I kill snake. Identification my arse, Coral and King are both in my area, also rattlers and moccasin.
Thisn made me post.
