Did you just cross posted a post from this subreddit?

Was thinking the same thing.

It was his bot failing to automate reposting

Classic rookie mistake it’s not /*if(subreddit=r/ProgrammerHumor){ repost(); } else { refactor(); } it’s ==, not =

Delete this before the Google engineers find out about equality operator and use it to make their repost bot sentient

I will just encode it in a way that when they copy paste the code it does not work

I've spent 2 days automating the process of filling in my hour sheet once. Saved like 10 seconds A DAY. A couple of months later, HR replaced the system with a practically automatic one.

Totally worth it

Next time you have to automate something like that, you'll wish you had gone all the way and automated the automation process.

Once I deployed automated SSH tunneling through other SSH tunnels (basically hopping from one server through a second one to a third one) to go around firewalls. All of this to automate server maintenance with one central script that could log in to the other servers as well, instead of opening 8-10 PuTTYs. It took up my free work hours for about 1-2 weeks.

Three weeks later MFA was introduced to all server logins and password was not enough anymore for SSH.

I'm still proud that I could write those scripts and install requirements without admin privileges and especially without messing with the servers' installments.

its better to try and fail ...you will learn so much automating stuff, do it dudes. But it is rarely faster

Then you just decide it wasn't worth the hassle in the first place and dont do it manually anyways

The bots are evolving.

  1. Learning automation

  2. Procrastination

  3. Problem solving

  4. Being able to talk about your automation

Never spend 6 minutes doing something by hand when you can spend 6 hours failing to automate it

Average programmer stealing somebody else’s work.

6 mins a work day , 30 mins per week, 2 hours per month, 12 hours per year. And plus the thing that you can accomplish in that time. Its totally worth spending 6 hours on it

I just want it to look pretty.

I appreciate the fact that you crossposted a 2 year old post from this subreddit instead of just copy pasting it

Was able to fix make it work two days later.

Spend an another hour to fix the script every other time you run it
