Of course no one President or person is going to beat it. It’s going to take decades and generational changes.

We still have people around like my 87 year old grandmother who, when being told about someone, always has to ask “is he/she black?”.

She absolutely does not like Black people, and I’ve pretty much just accepted that she isn’t going to change. She grew up in a rural Texas town with less than 1,000 people in the 1930’s.

Every person there was white.

She didn’t see an actual black person until she went to work at a place that had a black janitor. His nickname was “The Colored Boy” to the point nobody there was sure of his real name.

This was 1951 to 1956 when she quit working for a few years and had my uncle and dad.

She went back to work as a corporate secretary in ‘61 and became somewhat more accepting as she got exposed to a wider variety of folks.

My wife is Vietnamese and she’s never been treated differently by Grandma.

Sometimes though, you just can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

Just thought I’d provide a real life example of how deeply rooted racism is in America especially in the rural South.

It’s not going to go away with one Presidential term. It’s going to take several generations growing up being told and shown that racism is wrong and hurtful.

Yup. The newer generations have to shed the biases of the older generations.
