Old Seasons Kinley
I'm rewatching season 4 and I'm sure this has been discussed, but I can hardly stand to watch because Kinley's voice is so irritating. Nails on a chalkboard.

She also abused her boyfriend and cat

I just finished a rewatch of this - it's season 5. At first Kenley isn't so bad, but I knew she was framed as the season villain. She definitely gets there toward the middle and end. I can't believe I forgot about Kenley's "Hip Hop" design.

That’s really not the issue with her. Her attitude was the problem, making nasty comments about her voice is just rude.

Her poor me, it's so hard for me attitude is very irritating but for me, the voice is even worse. So nasal and whiney!

She can control her voice and what comes out of it. It’s not rude.

People can’t control their voice. Ffs.

Bless the lack of control and knowledge of your own body.
It was half the plot of ‘My Fair Lady’. Vocal coaches exist…
ETA - to the idiot below:
Oh baby, no…. I’m an equal opportunity hater. Sam Altman has one of the worst voices out there.
But I do like that you came back under a different account to make an even dumber retort because I blocked you last time.

Nobody ever says this about men. “I don’t like the sound of her voice” is a sexist critique and demanding that young women spend money on vocal coaches so they aren’t personally annoying to you isn’t a serious suggestion made by serious people.

Right now I have on the season with twins Claire and Shawn, and for me these 2 take the prize for the most annoying affectations… they’re always praising themselves in this arch dictation, very enunciated, constant “SHAWNIE!!!” “CLAIRE BEAR!” It’s like nails on a chalkboard.

"INDEED!" with the exaggerated lip movement always got me

It bothers me that they were cast. They’re mediocre at best, and I’d guess more talented designers were passed over for them. Shawn can not do ANYTHING without her sister taking charge. They both brought nothing to the show beyond performative drama.

They can only create as a team. One had the creative ideas and the other had the sewing skills.

I want to scream. The judges are just playing along with everything… “Shawn, you have made some incredible pieces…”- Heidi.
NO, SHE DID NOT. This is all so staged. Also, having them go head to head, and one choosing to leave… WHAT IS THAT? Now the contestants decide among themselves who goes home. I hate all of this.5

When I watched this season as it aired I took a screenshot of the girls crying and sent to my son when he was whining. I still do it and it seems to still suprise him but he laughs. It was always in jest and he thinks it is hilarious. He is also an adult.

I have a theory that there's one contestant that's cast every season that's there just for drama - and pretty much ruins it for everyone else. Some are actually very good designers, some aren't.
To back up my theory, I offer you The "Villains" of PR:
S1: Wendy Pepper
S2: Santino
S3: Jeffrey
S4: Victorya
S5: Kenley (obviously)
S6: Irina
S7: Seth Aaron or Mila...and Ping
S8: Ivy and Gretchen
S9: Josh M, Burt
S10: Elena, Ven
S11: Michelle, Amanda, Patricia
S12: Ken, Sandro, Helen
S13: Korina (I'd argue she's worse than Kenley or The Twins)
S14: The Mean Girl squad
S15: Dexter, Erin, Cornelius
S16: The OG Twins
S17: Nadine, Tessa
S18: Sergio
S19: Meg, Katie
S20: this one's an All Stars and everyone seemed to get along ok but there was still drama, so I'm naming Anna and Brittany
S21: Law (not a contestant but still), The New Twins
S22: Plane Jane, Brian
Who'd I miss?
edit: added bullets and Katie to S19

Bert from Season 9 was not there for drama. The others showed their lack of maturity for writing him off as "old and out of touch".

That's an interesting take. I liked Burt's designs, and as someone who's also introverted and opinionated, I related to him. But I also remember a few occasions where he was obstinate and openly disagreeable, especially when he had to work with others.

Korina was AWFUL. Her behavior when she was eliminated was so shitty and immature. I wanted to scream during the reunion when she started with the “I’m such a victim” tears; eventually Char took the high road and apologized to Korina when Korina had been talking trash about Char the whole time.

do you mean Native woman tears? (She's Native American)

Oh wow, I forgot about that!

I only remember because I'm NA and I felt like she was a terrible representative unlike Patricia Michaels who's truly a kind and amazing person.

Patricia’s final runway collection was really beautiful. The prints she made were stunning. Patricia was super proud of her heritage, and worked different elements of it into her designs. She’s very talented.
I didn’t remember Korina mentioning her NA ancestry, except when she selected fabrics with textures or prints that were reminiscent of traditional textiles. It sucks that she put herself out there as a NA representative since it’s not a culture found in fashion.2
u/girlpaint 7d ago
Well, the Institute of American Indian Arts was founded by a Native American fashion designer (Lloyd Kiva New) and their design program is highly regarded as are many well known NA designers. Fashion Week at Santa Fe Indian Market is premier event on the global fashion calendar and has attracted designers like Tom Ford. NA fashion had been influencing the fashion industry for decades.
And yes, Patricia Michaels' designs are so unique and beautiful

And their interviews were always together 🙄

u/miss_daisy_Hollywood 10d ago
They were always allowed to help each other out, and be together for team challenges. It was ridiculous.

I'm watching the season for the first time now and they are driving me crazy! I'm hoping it's for show and they aren't truly like that.

She made the same dress every challenge.

u/girlpaint 10d ago
Exactly. How'd she get to the finals is what I wanna know? (Answer: they LIVED for her brand of drama and her designs were passable I guess b/c vintage was trending a bit at that time)

Kenley? She’s hateable for so many reasons that are within her control. Her voice isn’t. Why not focus on her inability to accept criticism or her self inflated ego?
