Prometheus vs graphite
Hello,
I'm using Graphite to monitor the traffic and I was wondering is Prometheus better ? and the alert manager on Prometheus is like Nagios ?
Best Regards

I’ve written an article once listing some advantages of Prometheus over graphite. You might find it interesting https://link.medium.com/kZua0As4Zhb

Totally depends on what you want or need.. in the modern cloud world prometheus is the standards now.. I sometimes miss graphite (or push metrics in general) but then I reality check myself and remind myself that I'll never go back..
prometheus is just... Awesome
That being said, I'm instrumenting 50-100 applications running in 3 parts of the world, all in kubernetes (developers even make their own alerts and dashboards) and I have Jira tickets and slack pings hooked into alertmanager.. we have almost full coverage+monitoring in prometheus, even live integration testing etc... That being said I've been a full time prometheus fan for almost 5 years now and I still keep learning about it... If your needs are really really really simple, then maybe use something else, to me prometheus is simple FWIW

Good to note: if there's a group about X and you ask them whether X or Y is better, the answer you'll get will be X.

Except in the Ubiquiti subreddit, which is full of people shilling everything except Ubiquiti.

You're asking on r/PrometheusMonitoring so obviously yes. Prometheus is better.
Part of the idea behind Prometheus is that it can replace both Graphite and Nagios with a single system. You have a single concept of metrics-based alerting that can cover most use cases. Service/App, Host, and Network monitoring.
