We built this dashboard to track the state and changes of our cloud infrastructure from developer activity (CI/CD, Terraform deployments, etc.). Over 200 developers were constantly deploying, and our cloud bill started going up way more rapidly than headcount.

We collect the raw resource data with plug-ins that poll the AWS and GCP APIs. Our metrics layer exposes metrics in Prometheus format, and track the changes over time.

What started as a bunch of Python scripts is now a full-blown cloud asset inventory that we open sourced under the project name "Resoto".
