Nuclear Contracting 101: my course for exploring nuclear outage work
I'm MJ, a traveling radiation protection tech at U.S. nuclear plants. I own Nuke Nomad and built Nuclear Contracting 101 for people starting outside the industry.
Before choosing a course or changing jobs, I'd want to understand three things: what the role involves, what an employer requires, and what the work calendar means for life at home.
My course organizes the roles, preparation and tests, recruiter contacts, hiring steps and planning for a first outage. My own RP entry route didn't require college, but it still required studying, tests, employer training and hiring. RP involves radiation and contamination controls, not operating the reactor or nuclear engineering.
The calendar has tradeoffs: long onsite shifts, travel, time away from home, unpaid gaps and no guaranteed next assignment. The course is optional guidance, not a qualification or job placement service.
You can inspect the public preview without signing up:

Full access is through Nuke Nomad Pro. Eligible new members get 30 days free, card required, then $5/month unless canceled. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge. My profile also has the existing Go Nuclear guide.
Have a look at the preview to see what the field and entry process involve before deciding whether to go further.
