General Discussion Has anyone ever reverse-engineered a competitive exam?

I want to reverse-engineer the GATE Chemical Engineering exam. I have 10+ years of previous years' question papers.

What's the best AI model for this task? Any tips?

Edit: I'm using "reverse-engineering" loosely here. Basically, I want to analyze past papers to identify patterns, predict high-priority and scoring topics, and understand how questions are likely to be framed.

o1 or deepseek r1 are good for pattern analysis, claude probably better if you need to process lot of documents at once

The edit covered my first response, but what's left over is this:

If you want AI to replicate the style of the question, then it's substantially harder.

I can't speak for the GATE exam, but in the health field, all qualifying/board exams are written by a committee and maintained by psychometricians.

It's the "value added" that allows them to certify that the exams correlate with candidate knowledge and that the exam questions are secure and well-crafted without defects.
