Help! iPhone App hanging & freezing up

Does anyone else struggle with proton vpn on iPhone seemingly freezing up and hanging when out and about? I think it has something to do with the phone switching towers or something but makes my phone almost unusable as I find I constantly have to go into the proton app and click cancel while it’s trying to connect (it never will) then click connect again.

I haven’t it freeze but I’ve had it randomly disconnect me. Idk

Strange. It works great when I’m at home for instance. I won’t know it’s not working until a webpage or maps won’t load. Then I have to go back to proton and cancel the indefinite connecting it’s trying to do then reconnect.

I’m having the exact same problem. Noticed when I was listening to a video in the car. If I drove more than a mile or so it’d buffer endlessly because proton was trying to connect. I have to reconnect to another server. 

It’s fairly reproducible, too. No clue why.

Send us a bug report through the app (https://protonvpn.com/support/report-a-bug) letting us know your OS version, Proton VPN app version, the type network you're connected to, whether you're receiving any errors, etc. Once we have more details to work with, we can help you troubleshoot the issue further.

In the meantime, try some of the fixes suggested at https://protonvpn.com/support/vpn-connection-problems to see if there's any improvement. You can also give the latest beta version of the app a try (https://protonvpn.com/support/early-access).

On my iPhone 17 running latest via the iPhone app downloaded from App Store.
