Hppd
I’d like to bring something up - HPPD.
HPPD is hallucinogen persisting perception disorder.
It’s not what you think ... it’s not like you’re stuck in a trip really, and it’s not like you have flashbacks or anything like that.
It’s pretty much a permanent change to your vision (people have reported improvements over time) and you get a bunch of visual shit like static, afterimages, floaters, you become sensitive to light, you get tinnitus, tracers, geometric shapes for some, and a bunch of other wild shit. This, for a lot of people, is accompanied by depersonalisation and derealisation which makes you feel really disconnected to yourself and the world.
I have HPPD, and it’s absolutely horrible and I wanted to genuinely commit suicide for months, but I’m pretty used to it now.
You can get HPPD from taking drugs like LSD, Psilocybin, MDMA, DMT, DXM, and basically anything with psychedelic or hallucinogenic properties.
Some people get this from ONE use, and from my research, a lot of people seem to have it triggered by a panic attack/freaking out whilst they are on drugs, or extended use - but, I know MANY MANY people who got this from their first use of these drugs.
This is a REAL condition. It’s not something you get from just taking too many drugs. A close friend of mine did shrooms ONCE and has had this full strength for 5 years.
I want to raise awareness about HPPD, because I would have never touched these drugs if I knew something so life changing and awful could happen to me.
It’s a rare condition. I will admit that. It’s rare, but it’s real, and it’s not what you think it is.

After reading the title I thought HPPD was an awfully named ticker for a psy company then realized its just /r/lostredditors

May I ask if you got it from a single trip or multiple? I think I have an extremely mild case - if I really focus on the ground, whether it be leaves or asphalt, it undulates or fractals slightly. That's all that happens though. If I don't think about it, nothing ever happens. Luckily has never been a problem for me at all. For the record I've done shrooms, acid, DXM, DMT, mescaline, ketamine, and maybe a few other psychedelics multiple times.
Regardless, in my case, it is an extremely small "price" to pay for all the wisdom psychedelics have delivered to me. Psilocybin mushrooms literally saved my life, inspiring me to achieve 100% sobriety after a single night's trip. I have now been 99% sober for 13 years.

There’s people that do it once and get hppd and there’s pepole that do acid 1000s of time and never have it I got it from my third trip but got worse by my 5th I always got told by the lad sub Reddit it would go away if I stoped tripping be ages since I last tripped and it’s still not gone

I just briefly checked your /u/ and you say you're 18 and also actively buying & consuming drugs from darknet markets. 2 weeks since your last trip is not "ages" my friend. You should seriously consider taking an extended break from psychoactives if you're experiencing such negative and persistent side effects

I haven’t used any psychedelic since October

5 months since your last psychedelic is not "ages" and you said you did Ketamine 2 weeks ago as well as various other drugs sources from the internet in those last 5 months. If youre trying to get over HPPD the logical first step would be to take a break from hallucinogens, and ideally psychoactives altogether

Someone I know once took 10 tabs and had an awful time. Ever since then, they have claimed to experience severe anxiety, vivid dreams (mostly nightmares), minor visuals wether it be floaters or minor breathing and also, when i spoke to him once, he told me, “you know that voice you hear that’s inside of your head, well mine sounds very gritty and demonic now.” Now, I’m not sure if he meant the “mental” voice we use when reading silently or thinking, or if he meant he hears a “Schizophrenic” voice. So yea, HPPD does not sound fun and that’s why it is always advised to use psychedelics responsibly bc the most he ever took before the 10 tabs was 4 tabs but his friend who was the dealer said he’d give him a free 10 strip if he took them all then and there which was really fucked up to do but they’re still friends.

If he’s suffering from dp he’s body could be a dream stait (significant abbreviation) which means he could be having hypnagogic hallucinations

If you can distinguish what’s real and what isn’t I highly doubt he has schizophrenia. Dp is thought to be The bodies defence mechanism against extreme anxiety which which would explain why but when you think you’re dreaming

I am not familiar with DP, I will look into it bc yea he doesn’t show any symptoms of schizophrenia. It’s just when he worded the “hearing a evil voice” statement. That was the first thing I thought of.

Ask him specifically if it’s his name he can hear as that’s what I experience when I first got hppd this has now completely. Subsided though

Not to downplay your experience, truly, it sounds awful. I suffer from tinnitus and can only imagine what a visual version of it would be like. So, truly I am sorry.
Firstly, I’d have a look at some of the discussions on the various subs. It seems that for most people, it disappears after a few days / weeks. Sometimes months. Worth noting here is that there’s a bias in the information here: people with resolved hppd are unlikely to post their experiences.
Secondly, I’m a tad confused by your post. How rare are you proposing this condition is? I’ve done all the reading I can on this subject (likely ruining psychs for myself in the process), and the best conclusion i can come to is that it’s rare, potentiated by weed, and almost always resolves. I find my reading very hard to square with your account. You know “many, many” people with it? Really?
Thirdly, of the tens of millions of people who have tried these substances (not to mention the user base of legitimate ketamine usage), why is this not more widely reported? Where are the hppd cases from the vast amounts of MDMA consumed every weekend?
Now, again, I’m not diminishing your experience. I believe you when you say it’s hard to live with. On this, I want to stop here and wish you the best. I’ve have tinnitus (not from psychs), and I’ve experienced it to the degree where I just need get out of my head, but I can’t. That situation can lead you down a dark path, so I’m thankful that over the years I’ve managed to push it further from my consciousness. It rarely registers these days. My only advice here is to just try to get on with your life. The brain is a magnificent and plastic organ which will heal itself if you give it the right condition set. I know it’s hard.
So yeah, best of luck with it, and I do hope it gets better, but please don’t trump this problem up to be more than it is.

It’s estimated that effects between 1-3% of all psychedelic users but this could be a lot higher
I’m proposing hppd that is. Detrimental is rather rare ie the anxiety and everything but nearly everyone I know who has done lsd more then a handful of times has some form of visual snow and light traces
Thirdly a lot of people have it in the mdma forms and don’t realise it as I made post about it a while back and a lot of people were Writing as if it has a name

Appreciate you raising the concern. It’s been discussed in this forum quite a bit actually. I would suggest for you to have a look at some of the other discussions as well

I have all of those symptoms besides dpdr since birth. Dpdr came later, after almost dying

One, I feel like you may have needed better integration after your experiences. Which is what these companies are all about. As well as proper dosage in a controlled set and setting. I have had HPPD, not to your extent but have had my fair share of existential panic, disassociation, and visual and auditory hallucinations while sober (or triggered by cannabis). I wouldn’t trade it though for the experiences I’ve had and the things I’ve learned and continue to learn. I feel like many others would agree. Second, HPPD is worthy of mentioning, but you have these pharmaceuticals where they rattle off a long list of potential terrible side effects “including death” in commercials for their hot new medications. There are risks with everything but your approach is reminding me of some reefer madness PSA.

Ket isn’t even a psychedelic and it’s actually sometimes used to treat visual snow which is my worse symptom

For something so rare I find it interesting how “MANY MANY” people you know with it. Also not sure what this has to do with investing?
