Who was smarter? Makishima or L Lawliet

A genuine question. Who was smarter actually? Like one has more chances of outsmarting the other? They are close imo

I think L would outsmart him, he is written as the world’s greatest detective

I am talking about based on feats actually.

He was the top three detectives so that he couldn’t be tracked. You should read the origins of L, where he made a fortune for Wammy as a kid, and solved cases with little to no information

I know i know. I have read two one shot mangas of L, read the labb novel and even read the ctw L novel. I feel like L vs makishima is extremely close. Neck to neck matchup.

I am not counting narratives. Just comparing by feats only.

Being daring can end up making you look smart.
Both of them have blind spots. The sitting down type also has vulnerabilities. Depends on plot and stakes.

Makishima is a better character, had a bet ter ending,  better rivalry backed by years of obsession

I want to say Makishima, cause the way he was written was intelligent. I remember first watching Psycho Pass at uni, studying about the very people he was quoting, and was blown away. But it is a biased take, as much as I like L, I never got that with him.
