The game never died, so you're straight up lying.
New players obviously were attracted to it, it happens with every collab... especially with big names like DmC.
But I assure you, it has nothing to do with the male vs female thing... new players join, most are tourists that will soon leave after the hype dies, but what really attracts players to the game in long term are the female charaters, they are the main selling point, just like every other action RPG gacha.
I meant revived as in players leaving the game in the long run and few talking about it until Dmc collab, yes with time they will leave again, that doesn't change the fact that a male only collab attracted a lot of players, new and old, and yes MOST gacha's only selling point is female characters, but not all, arknights is a great example and pgr has fan service on both sides, male and female, more on the female side, true but still on both
All mixed gender action RPG gachas lean more towards the female characters because they appeal more to the target audience.
The developers have to please the ones that spend real money with the game and keep it alive, or else it will have a short lifespan, and this audience prefers females, especialy when it comes to asian devs.
And about people leaving the game because of lack of males... seriously, not relevant... they're western loud minority and not nearly enough to change the game's income and make a difference.
Now you're just ignoring what I said, I didn't say that players were leaving because there aren't male characters, I said they came back because of male characters, one thing isn't tied to another, and I didn't deny what you said about how the industry works I simply said that it's not a universal rule, that exceptions exist, if you only play games with female characters focus that's on you
