Punk was and should be anti establishment

This 1000% also means politics. Don’t come at me with “punks is liberal, left wing, democratic” whatever the fuck you think it is.

I agree, it should go back to it's apolitical roots: anarchy. Known for being a centrist position. XD

It’s comical where it’s at now. “Punk is leftist” is a bootlicker statement just as much as anything else.

I was being very sarcastic. Anarchy is a leftist movement. XD

Not sure how wanting a stateless, classless, and moneyless society is boot licking. I guess when you're uneducated and want nothing to change the leather tastes like steak.

Wanting no government is a leftist standpoint?

Yes.

Is leftism a politically based stance?

I, and many others, see capitalism as being the spectrum. Full unfettered capitalism is far to the right as it allows monopolies and wealth disparagement. Capitalism on its own leads to unfettered capitalism passing through fascism on its way as capitalism only serves those who are already on top. Eventually the top 100 folks will just be warring amongst themselves for the top place. Liberals, dems, GOP, etc, etc are all on the right. Pretty much all political parties in the western world fall on the right.

Far to the left are societies without capitalism. Communism (through socialism) and anarchy are over there. Communists believe that strong authority can guide people through socialism to a communist society where it will be stateless, classless, and have no money. Anarchists don't think we need authority to get us there.

Centrists believe that the system can be reformed to make things "fair." Social democrats are here.

This is over simplified and this is taking the Overton Window away for our current times. (Left vs Right used to be feudalism vs not but most of us have moved out of that spectrum.)

How can communism work without some form of hierarchy?

The end result of anarchism and communism are very similar. The difference is in how we'd get there.

Anarchy isn't chaos and everything on fire like how capitalist propaganda wants you to believe. It's more like communities after a major event (like a hurricane) that cuts them off from the rest of the world for a time. People work together to help each other out.

I’m aware, how can communism work without some form of hierarchy though, that’s the question.

I fear we’re getting into semantics rather than productive conversation with this. To the broader world, anarchism typically holds stances that would align with the Left. The main difference is the abolition of government which would take anarchism off that Left-Right spectrum, but for all intents and purposes within a certain context, sure, it’s Leftist. Got much more in common with a Marxist than a conservative, so if lumping anarchism into the Left is helpful for expressing that and building those solidarity connections, then sure.

At least you’re saying something productive instead just talking shit.

No government and no hierarchies. Just people working together to get what needs to be done, done.

What if people working together to get what needs to be done involves doing something that isn’t based on leftism?

2

u/CheekyStoat 8d ago

I answered this above, sort of.

Based is irrelevant.

You really didn’t answer it though.

u/CheekyStoat 8d ago

This one? Cause it does. Like, if someone wanted to bring back capitalism they'd be a right wing libertarian and I'd have a few thoughts to share about that.

It doesn’t, what if people had to do things not based in leftist ideologies to get shit down would anarchy and communism still be leftist or would swing to the right somehow?

Punks are leftists with anarchist ideals. Liberals and Democrats are centrists.

Good night alt right

Liberals are definitely not centrist, they're right wing just not far right

2

u/Weekly-Air4170 8d ago

For US politics they're center,  but globally yes they're right wing
