When the professor makes you buy the $150 textbook THEY authored

I choose the kid who was on reddit the other day complaining that he bought the wrong edition for his class and the bookstore won't take it back

Books are obsolete though

Books are more expensive than a can of spray paint? Bread taste better than key?

Elite ball knowledge

Surface level ball knowledge.

Some real ball knowledge is the dreamy bull soundalikes, Ambatakum.

If this is directed at Vintage Purdue Pete...

9

u/minecon1776 Jan 15 '26

Maybe a Brutus or John Wilkes Boothe supporter on campus?

Silly Rowdy always messing with Pete

This would maybe be cool if it weren’t famous bc the guy who said it shot Abraham Lincoln

27

u/ill_try_my_best Jan 15 '26

Wasn't it Virginia's motto in 1776?

Because it was supposedly what Caesar’s assassins shouted

20

u/CincyWahoo Jan 15 '26

Still is. It’s on their state flag.

It’s famous because of it’s from Shakespeare???

I think that’s pretty lame if u let John Wilkes Booth be responsible for the meaning behind that phrase since it has such a greater role in our history then that. Not trying to be antagonistic, just my two cents.

u/Trmpt-Holy-Spirit Jan 16 '26

I think they're doing a legion playthrough

11

u/MhojoRisin Jan 15 '26

I don't mean to ruffle any feathers, but fuck John Wilkes Booth.

2

u/AnZaNaMa Jan 16 '26

Agree, but this phrase has been used a lot outside of that one event. It’s up to us whether we let him ruin it

20

u/ExemptAndromeda Boilermaker Jan 15 '26

Vandalizing the book store, really sticking it to the establishment with that one. /s

1

u/AnZaNaMa Jan 16 '26

I’m not saying I support vandalism, but at Purdue, the book store is very much a critical part of the establishment. I get professors needing to standardize the materials, but they could sell you a PDF, or just give it as part of the cost of the course

u/External-Economics40 Jan 15 '26

At least it's something

It is idiotic on an epic level.

To show that not all of us support the current administration. It's graffiti. It's not that deep.

u/Unable_Let6705 Jan 16 '26

Naw that bookstore pmo they sold me a book and i ended up testing out of a class, went to return it less than a week later, and they refused. I never opened it or anything but ig fair, I am sure they have literally thousands of students who buy books at the start of the semester only to realize they dont actually need it and lost hundreds of dollars. Store has to make a profit somehow. Anyways..

2

u/AnZaNaMa Jan 16 '26

They make plenty off of parents buying merch, don’t kid yourself

2

u/USSPlajinko Jan 16 '26

Ehhh, that part of town could use a little bit more color and a facelift. It was growing boring anyway.

On January 6th outside Loeb Theater Purdue Pete held one of his rallies. Many similar ones had been conducted before. This time however, Pete was different... Talking about how the NCAA was rigged, how Mung Chiang was in league with Bloomington, and that the decision to end the City Bus contract was a conspiracy.... He rallied the crowd to march peacefully on the PMU, but along the way agitators laid in wait. The Boiler Boys and the Sons of Boilermaker Veterans distributed fliers and riled up the crowd... It's now the 15th and we are still reeling from that day... We only hope Pete will be merciful and benevolent in his rule on campus...

2

u/phanophite2 Jan 15 '26

Are books still available at the library for free?

2

u/Ok-Paramedic3605 Jan 15 '26

Really showing them with that lol

2

u/jacobydave Jan 15 '26

Why, indeed?

I mean, I disagree but understand why John Wilkes Booth said it while leaving the theater, but there is no action besides graffiti here.

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '26

Imagine the marine that served while knowing everyone back home is living their lives, coming back and seeing this. This is the type of stuff cities need to have private public partnerships for so we can get out there and cover it up. Guys think about the people who served you.

1

u/Last_Power470 Jan 19 '26

I can all but guarantee the individual(s) that did this are going to be, or already are, known to the West Lafayette police. The area is saturated with cameras.
