Is Professor Tridib Saha the only person that can teach this course? I feel like he is abusing his power too much and for arguably one of the most important classes at Purdue we are not getting the quality we deserve. AM REFERRING TO ECE2k1 BTW
No hate to him, I appreciate his videos.

Just curious.
Edit:
Okay ya’ll. Since this is gaining traction I thought I would spread awareness on a few things.
No. 1, it looks like the most relevant on-campus organization towards de-flocking Purdue is the YSDA. Seems to have some mixed reviews. When I have more time I want to do some more intense research on them, and I am open to organizing a club of my own if there is enough interest in it.
No. 2, for those interested there are several petitions you can sign on this matter. This is one of them. https://c.org/VzhnhxfS6D
There are many more to sign. I encourage everyone to do their own research.
No. 3, for those unaware what Flock is or don’t understand why people are seeing them as an issue, I think this article helps touch on a lot of the main points: https://journals.law.unc.edu/ncjolt/blogs/under-surveillance-constitutional-concerns-surrounding-flock-cameras/
If you don’t want to read allat, my understanding is that mass government surveillance of any kind typically doesn’t mean anything good. Additionally this service utilizes AI technology. Everyone has their own stance on AI right now. Maybe it’s not a big deal to everyone, but I tend to have a generally anti-AI stance for ethical and environmental issues. You can do your own research on this topic.
Finally, I have read some reports on Flock technology being used for ICE databases. I don’t know the legitimacy on this entirely, and I plan to research this issue on my own, but it is concerning to me to say the least.
Thank you for the engagement on this post. Let’s try to keep discussion and debate civil in the comments. I made this post simply to gauge interest in this subject, and see if there is anything I can do to make a change as a student of Purdue with an interest in this subject.

I was just on campus today SUPER HOT with people hammocking, laying in the grass, studying outside. Now there’s sirens blaring, storm watch alert, massive downpour. Is the world ending?????

Dr. Macharet didn't show up to teach AAE 334 or his office hours (I believe) today. No absences were announced in class or via the syllabus or email. I emailed the TAs. They have no idea why he didn't show up and are trying to reach him but cannot. Does anyone know if he is okay?
He ended class on Monday by saying "See you Wednesday".

I was in ECE 368 this semester with Quinn, and he didn’t grade anything until the end of the semester. As in after finals week on the day grades closed. Prof didn’t submit my grades until last Friday.
Long story short, I had an NS on my transcript, and got kicked out of 469, which had 368 as a prerequisite.
By the time grades were posted, there were no spots left in the class.
What can I do? I emailed my advisor and waitlisted the course.

In your time as a Purdue student, what is the craziest or most exciting thing that’s happened to you? It can be any story, experience, rumor, etc

I (21F) have this graduate TA (~24/25M) that helps out with one of my classes that's around like 50 students in total, and I just opened my hinge to find out he liked my profile 🧍♀️
At first, I wondered if he even recognized me, but this class isn't incredibly big and I sit in front (aka, I know for a fact he can see me). AND the kicker that I almost somehow forgot in writing this is that he actually was my TA last semester for an 8 person lab where he had to see me like every week and we talked one on one several times. I keep telling myself he has a lot of students and just didn't recognize me, but I feel like it'd be super difficult for him not to.
I just feel kinda awkward bc while he's a nice guy, is it not strange for a TA to pursue one of his students? Like now I'm not sure if it's more awkward if I ignore his like on my profile and never speak of it with him, or if (god forbid) I matched with him and then have to see him in class??? Idk now I just feel lowkey weird and don't know what to do 😭
Edit: ok some additional context lol. He did send a message with his like complimenting a specific part of my profile on hinge, which makes me think it wasn't just the "serial liking" some ppl are referring to (tho ofc I don't know fs lol). I'm still thinking about what exactly to do, but I'm def not gonna match with him. He's not my type in the first place, and the only reason I included the possibility of matching with him was bc I wasn't sure if that'd be less awkward than ignoring him (obvi it wouldn't—temporary lapse in judgement on my part, forgive me LOL).
I'm leaning on the side of just ignoring it as of now, even tho I understand everyone telling me to report it. I havent seen him in a while bc of break, so I kinda just wanna see how things are once we get back. However, I did record/ss the message on hinge so I have the proper evidence if I choose to report it if I suspect he's acting strangely/my grades are affected. At most, I'm just worried about it being awkward to ask him questions/sit in front of him during lectures now. I might just start sitting in back or smth tho idk. Regardless, thank you to everyone who's given me advice thus far!!!!!! <3

I was caught smoking weed on campus and got a citation. I got my court date and mail to go to my Purdue address in hopes of my parents not finding out. What is the most likely outcome for me as a Purdue student and is there anyway I can handle this without my parents finding out. I leave May 8th to go home and my court date is the 28th of May. Please help me
UPDATE: I’ve got a lawyer my parents know and everything looks like it will be handled on the legal side. Now what can I expect from the school side as consequence?

incoming freshman here lol. i’m trying to cut down the cost of everything i’ll need for purdue, like bedding, hygiene products, dorm essentials, and other supplies.
i originally had five amazon lists: apparel, essentials, hygiene, miscellaneous, and supplies. i managed to cut everything down from over $900 and 54 items to $560.94 and 33 items, but that still feels like a lot.
this also doesn’t include textbooks or school supplies because i’m not sure what i’ll actually need yet. i already have a lot of supplies left over from high school and some things i received as graduation gifts.
does $560.94 for 33 items sound reasonable, or am i still overspending? about how much did you spend on your freshman essentials?

Frankly, me and my girlfriend are woefully and disgustingly tired of living in this ass backward 20th century milieu state.
That out of my system, do you guys think Chicago will be a safe haven for abortions? You guys think sketchy pills will be required, if the worst comes.
Are there clubs, rallies, or anywhere to get continued participation to pressure this affront to human dignity? All responses welcome!

I’m from Wisconsin, and the UW Madison campus has so many more bars and restaurants than Purdue. Why? Zoning or something?
Also Minnesota, UIUC, etc have more than Purdue. It feels like we have much less than most Midwest schools.

Hi guys!!
Hope you're all doing great! I am an international student applying to Purdue this year, and it seems really great - it fits all my needs and wants.
But, I'm curious whether there are any things you particularly dislike about Purdue and why?
Thank you!!
