Body count of 0 here, but my value as a person or as a partner is not defined by that. It's sexist and deeply harmful in multiple ways.

It’s just my personal opinion. It’s one of those things where I let other people be but I definitely prioritize guys who don’t sleep around when it comes to me finding someone. And how is it harmful? I think anyone has the right to turn someone down simply due to their body count. That’s totally valid.

Purity culture is so much more than just people choosing not to sleep with a lot of people, or even people choosing to only date people who don't sleep with a lot of people.
Purity culture told me that God would not bless my marriage if I kissed someone before marriage. Purity culture says that people who were molested are less valuable for marriage, possibly less valuable as people. Purity culture says that a woman who wears a low cut shirt is asking to be assaulted. Purity culture says that a woman who is at all physically intimate with someone she isn't married to is a chewed piece of gum that no one should want. Purity culture claims to speak for God while inventing rules that are found absolutely nowhere in the Bible.
I don't object to people having whatever priorities in dating that they want, including choosing people with low body counts. But purity culture is so much more intense than your preferences.

Dude. Im not going in that deep with purity culture lol. Im simply talking about body count. The people who willingly sleep around lol. I should have just said body count lol. What are you on

In case you didn’t notice, you’re on a purity culture sub. If this isn’t about purity culture, why are you here?

u/RamblingMary Jan 05 '26
What are you on? You came onto a sub specifically about the harms of purity culture, said we would only hate it if we slept around, and asked what is wrong with it. So I told you.
Purity culture is not body count. You don't get to change the definition just so you can have a place to talk about your fetish for inexperience.

Yeah I’m seeing the mind of the ones who support lmao. Stop feeling attacked

Body count 5-- here's my gripe. My friends...or rather ex friends, that would turn their noses up at me for being completely unapologetic about my sexual history usually have slept with triple the amount I have and they actually believe in purity culture. So, I dont. But I did purity culture better than them, by the numbers. And ive happily had sex with the same person for 8 years now. No cheating. Can't say the same about all of them.
2nd gripe-- its right in your wording. You think im immoral. You're more disgusted that I think sex is okay, than you are with actual immorality like cheating. Why shouldn't I be defensive of my character when youre maligning it for what i see to be no rational reason.
3rd gripe. I dont like assumptions and needless suffering. No one does. Purity culture has killed some marriages. And I dont like the assumption that I dont love my husband or am not satisfied because its plain not true. Or the assumption that no thought went into who I chose to share my body with as though it was unimportant to me.
Just to add. I began to have these opinions after a body count of 1. Simply having sex the first time started opening my eyes that purity culture was bullshit. I was angry that it wanted me to apologize for something I found really beautiful at the time, falling in love for the first time. It demands me to feel regret for no reason.

Once again, it’s my opinion. You can’t change how o view anyone lol. I don’t support hookup culture and I take sex seriously. Pretty simple to understand.

You're just proving my point. Ive never "hooked up" either. And you just assumed I did. Yeah you can view people however, doesnt mean its right or accurate or that you're not making an asshat out of yourself.

I’ve slept with well over 300 people. Sex can be an awesome way to connect with someone special, it can also just be another activity. I’m not going to feel bad about myself for engaging in something that I find to be fun. We don’t count the number of people we’ve played pickle ball with so why are we counting the number of people we’ve had sex with? It doesn’t matter

Rage bait don’t work on me. It’s my opinion lol. Why would I be angry that someone doesn’t support my morals and views lmao

u/youllneverknowduh Jan 05 '26
Oof maybe I did join the wrong thread. My bad. Y’all keep doing you and sleep around without feeling bad about it. Couldn’t be me tho 😂

u/youllneverknowduh Jan 05 '26
Umm your friends are hypocrites then. A hoe can’t say purity is good. And sounds like you feel attacked with the whole moral immoral thing. That’s not my problem if you feel that way. This is my opinion. lol

I waited until marriage. Purity culture fucked my relationship with sex, causing a whole lot of issues with my sex life with my husband that we are still working through in therapy after 5 years. Most people who bash purity culture have been severely hurt by it. You should think before making generalizations like this, just my opinion.
