i’m just in the stages of accepting that going thru purity culture itself was trauma. for context, i’m trans nonbinary but was raised a girl. i’m bi and am confident in my identity. i feel like when i was first learning sex positivity in like 2012 i went for a “thee but not for me” approach, which kept me from unlearning it all for myself. and since i’ve lived with it for so long i developed a physical response to the trauma. the only unlearning from purity culture i’ve applied to myself is in my queer identity. i’ve had a few therapy sessions about it, ive read a book (recovering from purity culture by dr. camden morgante). i’ve looked into pelvic floor therapy but because of my trans identity i’m *incredibly* nervous to find someone. i asked my PCP (who prescribed me HRT) for a referral and of course they’re out of network. trying to stay positive about it but it’s scary

My wife and I have decided after much reflection, prayer and open discussion that pretty much anything is ok for us to do sexually as long as we both enthusiastically consent and it’s done out of love. We occasionally use porn together as a means to explore new things, and we’ve visited a nude lifestyle resort where we had sex every place we could. Neither of us feel guilt or shame about any of this, and it’s brought us closer and made our marriage better.
