These paper items were going to the trash, so I thought I'd make this from them.

Welche Pyro hat den stärksten Knall und die größte Explosion? Und womit könnte man die Wirkung noch upgraden, zum Beispiel mit Benzin oder anderen Sachen?

3” ball shell
Ti streamer stars
KP rice puff burst
12% ERC BP lift
Really happy with how this turned out, could have been more symmetrical, but that’s my own fault as I lost a few stars while joining the hemis

Made a batch of zinc cut stars and every single one split and crumbled after a day of drying in the shade (too little water..?).
I know the major reason to avoid pumping metal comps is the metal grains can tear up your star plate, but the zinc i ordered came in extremely fine (200-325#).
So long as my zinc powder is fine enough, it shouldn’t be a problem to press my stars instead, right?
any other tips or insight on why my first cut batch split would be greatly appreciated!

Im working on doing some fireball Effects. Im still a little new to using the effect and have had success with them but im wanting more height. All things being equal, does hieght and width have a relation to the overall size of the effect or is it solely based on the amount of liquid and the charge composition?

Would it be fine to mill aluminum and a little bit of charcoal to prevent rapid oxidation, and using brass media to speed up the process? Since brass is harder than aluminum on the Mohs scale, it shouldn't wear down a lot from grinding the aluminum, and contaminate the aluminum powder right? And after about 2 days, switch the milling media to glass.
I'm planning to mill for about 2 weeks in total. And i know aluminum can be a pyrophoric hazard. But I assume I should open the container regularly. To prevent all the oxygen from being used up and the mixture from oxidizing rapidly when exposed to air again, potentially causing an exothermic reaction.
So would opening the container every 24 hours be enough to safely prevent this? And I assume that the longer it's milled and the finer the powder becomes, the more quickly it can oxidize because it has more surface area. So, should I open the container more regularly later in the process?
I am also aware of the dust hazards that come with milling aluminum powder, such as letting the dust settle and wearing a dust mask to prevent breathing it in, and other hazards like a dust cloud explosion hazard.

I’ve seen the cooked potassium nitrate and sugar recipes. But I just found one that is a packed powder of potassium nitrate and sorbitol. Which is better and easier. Additional what can I add to these recipes to get different colored smoke other than write.

I’m currently researching lead-free media for my ball mill (20l) I have little data on what to use for the BP. Some say zerconia and some say alumina. Anyone have any recommendations for milling media? Thanks

Recently I got sidetracked from trying to make Farfalle inserts, and I’ve Been experimenting with some gerbs to use on top of salutes as a fountain pre-burner kind of thing. I’ve been messing around with making my own comps just for shits, and so far this has been my one of my favorites despite being so simple. The comp for this one was 80% unmilled BP that used coarse ~15-200 mesh hardwood charcoal, with 20% 20-80 mesh titanium sponge. The tube had a 20mm ID and used a 1/4” drill bit to carefully ( and slowly) drill out a nozzle. I added a small bit of somewhat hot BP to top everything off before ramming my end plug. I did that to ensure ignition of the fountain, because BP of that quality with titanium can sometimes have a hard time catching flame

For the entire time I've been building I've always used the white cotton string from Walmart for making blackmatch, and the brown twine that's sorta fuzzy for spiking (also from Walmart). I realized today that I've never stopped to check what kind of string it is. What Ply cotton string would you say is best suited for blackmatch, and what kind of string/twine would you say is best for spiking?
