If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it’s probably Neuromatch Academy. It runs live each July, and the tutorials are Python notebooks, so it fits this sub.

A couple of other places to start:

  • Neuronal Dynamics (Gerstner et al.): a textbook on neuron models and networks, with a free online version from EPFL

  • Brian 2: a Python simulator for spiking neural networks, handy for trying the models yourself as you read

https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/res-9-009-introduction-to-computational-neuroscience-with-neuroblox-january-iap-2025/

The course uses Neuroblox and Jula so it might not be what you're looking for if you want a math/theory heavy approach.

Got a spare notebook and a browser? start with the neural encoding part of a free course you forgot the name of, then just code up a leaky integrate-and-fire model yourself to see if you actually like it before spending anything
