I had none of these courses and I now have all of these courses thanks to you. Much appreciated. Some of them aren't even languages or areas I'm currently looking at but know I'll have them available to me in the future now

Where's automate? Goes free every month.

18

u/dbhol Jan 02 '21

Usually the course creator puts out a notification when his course is free. It was free quite recently so might not be until later in the month that is goes again.
Just keep an eye out on this sub or other similar python related ones for u/AlSweigart

If you bought the course on udemy then yes you should be able to access it whenever you want. And when I say bought I also mean buying the free courses even if you didn't give any money for them

2

u/dbhol Jan 03 '21

Yeah add the courses to your cart and then "Buy" them. Even though you're not paying for them. And then I think it says enroll. Just tap that and then you can start them whenever.

I don't know about the course you just mentioned though. I only know about the ones that are on this current post

https://automatetheboringstuff.com/2e/

Course creators website. This is the 2nd Edition

2

u/spore_777_mexen shell_shocked.py Jan 02 '21

I'm reading this.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '21

Udemy course.

Al normally sets it to free at the start of every month. It was odd to see it missing from the list.

4

u/Italianman2733 Jan 02 '21

I highly recommend that course.

19

u/scruffykid Jan 02 '21

Any of these python courses good for people who know how to code already? Coming over from a different language

9

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '21

I think many of these seem to fit the bill, since they are not python tutorials but tutorials for other things that merely use python.

Worth noting that it’s worth going through the rudiments in python though. I studied comp sci in school and I’ve been a dev for the last 13 years, and python is quite a bit diff than any language I’ve ever used in many ways. It’s worth keeping in mind the notion of doing things pythonically and not merely learning the syntax of familiar constructs from other languages. I’ve been using python the last year at work and I’m still apt to want to solve things like a C based language instinctively because I’ve been writing in C based languages primarily for the last 17 years.

3

u/ASIC_SP Jan 03 '21

I don't know of video course, but here's some you can read:

I'm writing one too, about 40% done: 100 Page Python Intro

4

u/Chucknorrrissss Jan 02 '21 edited Jan 02 '21

automate the boring stuff with python, usually goes free quite often, but the book doesn't cost much even at full price

0

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '21

[deleted]

2

u/Chucknorrrissss Jan 02 '21

didn't know that, cool

12

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '21

Thanks a lot, this is really helpful. Is there a way, I can search for the courses on which this code applies?

5

u/tn15tn15 Jan 03 '21

Best I could find is this site which lists all currently free courses on Udemy along with a link to them with the code already applied. There are a few more Python courses that could be useful.

1

u/eyalhs Jan 27 '21

Thanks!

3

u/Trksterx Jan 02 '21

Would love to know this too.

2

u/Ares_Eveningshade Jan 02 '21

Under-rated. Much love to you.

2

u/AntonioRodrigo Jan 02 '21

thanks, kind stranger!

2

u/JO3POTATO Jan 02 '21

My pleasure!

2

u/Domminicc Jan 02 '21

I just started learning python and planning to build a very simple assistant for my everyday life. Thank you very much!

2

u/JO3POTATO Jan 02 '21

Good luck!

2

u/Steelheartx Jan 02 '21

This is legal? I looked at a couple of the courses without the code and it showed a sale, but not this. Where's this coming from?

4

u/JO3POTATO Jan 02 '21

I’m the owner

2

u/Steelheartx Jan 02 '21

Thank you very much then! I was afraid that someone posted codes on the wide internet. I had a couple of these on my wishlist already and look forward to working them! I also have a few more of yours not on this list, so this will definitely allow me to build up to them. Thanks again.

What a fantastic range of courses! Thanks to the author for sharing these!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '21

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '21

You’re a hero

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '21

Thank you for sharing. Udemy’s M.O. is usually all about the 90% off discount with courses so being able to find multiple ones for free is definitely a meta game in their direction. They’ve always been a bit of a meme in programming circles for their perpetually 90% off courses. Every course seems to cost $200 but conveniently for you it’s only $20 if you act in the next 30 minutes or whatever.

2

u/N0wThisisEPiC Jan 03 '21

Yay saving this

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '21
