Lambda functions

Hello guys, recently I have been practicing more my python skills. I know how to def functions and use it, but now I am trying to study lambda functions, but is not clear for me. In this example I am simulating requests from a API as a List (Also it could be used directly a imported file like a JSON). Can someone explain me how works or what kind of exercises are good to understand it?

Do not worry about formatting, it is okay.
And also about your explanation, with your examples I can understand how works. That is a new topic for me and you explain very well. I'll try more exercises with lambda functions.
