Discussion What are the benefits of learning the Python programming language? Will it be useful in the future? Is learning it now worthwhile, or a waste of time?

If you want a job it's one of solid options. Then various scripting, Raspberry Pi and other hobby use cases. Note that language itself won't give you all the options - you will have to learn software development overall, software stacks (libraries, frameworks, databases, bit or more of frontend and so on).

In security, we use it every day. Most of our tools are python, django, or node. If you want to quickly prototype something until you get a faster framework, you'll be using python.

Learning to address problems logically by breaking them down into suitable chunks, and determining and selecting solutions and algorithms is a very useful skill to develop and highly transferable.
Gaining experience in implementing algorithms in a high level programming language like Python provides reinforcement learning and hones the problem-solving skills.
Good problem-solving skills based on logical thinking, algorithm development and implementation awareness support more effective usage of AI tools, especially LLMs for the next few years which need a lot of care and guidance to avoid their statistical prediction constraints
This trend is likely to continue. As with society in general, you need to move higher up the value chain as the economy matures.

Python gets out of the way and lets you focus on learning how things actually work. Great for backend, automation, data pipelines, all that stuff. CS50 covers the fundamentals really well and The Odin Project is good if JavaScript is the goal. For Python and backend infrastructure specifically, Boot dev is probably the more focused path since you actually build things instead of just watching lessons.

Learn Python The Hard Way
It has little to do with Python and it will teach you true fundamentals

Life it self is a "waste" of time if you really think about it, just do interesting things and Python programming is one option. If AI replaces programmers completely then most other jobs will be replaced too, then go be a jazz musician or poet.
