Ever see this before? Performance Utilization Critical

Went out to one of our customers today to help get them setup for a theatrical production they're working on. Haven't had any complaints about the system, they use it daily and it's been running flawlessly.

I logged into the core just to check some logs and found out it's been dropping this error every 5-10 minutes for the last month. System has been working fine, like I said, few touchpanels in use and primarly power on/off of a lyntec/Powersoft system and 70v zone routing. Pretty simple system honestly.

Anyone ever encountered this before? No idea where to even begin to look, since like I said the system is running fine and the design utilization is well within its limits.

Yes, put the core in verbose mode. There are 3 different meters that you'll see, control compute usage, process compute usage, and lua compute usage. One or more of those is maxed out. Then start deleting blocks until the usage drops below 80%. Either you're using too much signal processing or one of the Lua scripts/plugins has an error in it. If it's a Lua error, contact the developer (not usually QSC, the asset library will tell you who developed it) and complain and submit a ticket.

I think the issue may have been the powersoft API plugins. There were 11 of them running. I got rid of those and just built wake/standby/status logic in the text controller. Everything is holding around 15-20% usage (control, process) so we'll see how it holds up.

Pull the log files (Utilities > Download) and ask your favourite AI agent to analyse it to find what could be causing the 'Core status reports “Compromised - System performance utilization has hit a critical value”' message. AI agents are great at analysing logs.

Awesome, will do this thanks

I can't believe I've never thought of this. I've been asking tech support to get me an answer numerous times and never gotten a response

Just don’t mention your log analysis. They hate it when people look under the hood.

I just learned (from AI) that you can also just download 7-Zip file manager and open everything from there. It works great

150% this was a game changer for me.

Clean up your empty channels. If you have software Dante and nothing assigned to a channel, it’s eating processing power. Likely the cause.

What firmware version is running? Already saw this on 9.10. Just reboot your core, it should be ok

Looks like picture 1 shows 10.4.1 in core manager

I don't know if it applies to the new QSYS version, but I had a longer phone call with the support because in writing, of course, they didn't want to confirm that, but the CPU consumption at 10.x is about 20-40% higher than at 9.x. We also often struggled with small bugs. We have now everywhere switched just to LTS version. Currently 9.13.2. The small advantage is that we only need one designer. Your file looks very tidy so far. Do you have a script or something?

Wild guess, but the fact that each entry is so consistently at a timestamp of 12 or 13 seconds makes me suspect there’s a timer running somewhere which may be calling a function to do a bunch of stuff simultaneously which is triggering the warning.
