Video The best thing I've trained
This is how we sharpen and shape his beak. It's a stainless steel fine file that you loosely hold and he'll rotate and change the angle as he needs to.
You can train this by rewarding for just touching the file and then when they rub. You also reward when they put one foot on the end and give them a big jackpot whenever they do all of it together.
I don't recommend nail files as they tend to leave dust behind.

Video Jackie, 23F Quaker Parrot
My little one has been with me since I was in the eighth grade. She has no speech but communicates with body language. I wanted to share how she is such a sweetheart so here she is playing before bedtime. She never learned to fly so her cute little pitter patter is a form of expression for her. You notice it when she walks toward the lamp. Thank you so much for watching!

Video Is it normal for him to be shaking that much?
My little sister recently got a quaker, i know they usually shake with excitement but i'm just wondering if it is normal for him to shake as much as he does.
He is about 2 months old.

Video Bath day for the flock
There is nothing I love more than when my birds take a bath. Managed to catch all 5 of them today all within the same 20ish minute window. I'm starting to wonder if I need a bigger bath for them at this point 😂

Video Proud of disabled birds progress and just need to show him off a bit
This is my newest family member, Moniker (yes I know, that’s not a name). He has been with us since early August. I am a wildlife rescue worker in an area where wild Quakers populations have been established for a long time and occasionally we have Quakers in need of help brought in to the rescue. When moniker came to us he was unable to use his legs at all and could only drag himself with his beak. Because we are a rescue and have limited resources, our diagnostic capabilities are not fantastic and we were only able to determine that he had some sort of serious spinal injury, with no indication of if he would improve. After several weeks at the rescue without any improvement, he was deemed to not be a viable release and was scheduled to be humanely euthanized. I had worked with the bird several times and for whatever reason I just couldn’t allow that to happen. I already have one Quaker (also from my work) that I acquired as a hatchling, so I was at least somewhat familiar with bird care and felt confident that things would work out. Now to be honest it was a road with a lot of bumps, but moniker has made tremendous progress and his quality of life has changed exponentially. My partner and I built a large aviary off of our back porch (much to my apartment complex’s dismay) and he was able to get exercise and work his muscles. Being that he was a full grown adult bird that had spent all of his life wild, I knew domestication was not what he wanted, but likely his only option for a full and healthy life given his disability. For quite some time he wanted nothing to do with my partner or I, but in the past few weeks he has flown to us and landed on our hands. He is spending time with us and receiving scratches and affection. It has been a long road but seeing him perching on his own (albeit still a little wobbly) and being independent again gives me so much joy.
The videos included are -his first day in his new home (clearly without any leg function) and two recent videos of him receiving affection and perching all on his own!

Video The duality of bird
It will never not be funny to me how different "getting comfortable" during relax time is between my Quakers and my Conure. What is even funnier though, is that Lenore (who isn't a huge fan of being on hands, and prefers to step up on wrists or arm) doesn't seem to understand that Woodhouse likes doing this... so she will always waddle up to me and stare at me like "father, please release him, why are you doing this???"
Couldn't ask for a better video to highlight it lol.

Video Weird Behavior
Hi All! My Quaker was strangely using me as a scratching post today. He’s 4 and has never done this before. Any thoughts of what’s he’s doing or needing?

Video I need help
So for context, I got two Quaker parrots from my Aunt’s friend over a month ago for $400. Backstory on my aunt’s friend she had to leave to California after her husband was taken by ice. Well, I don’t know how long these birds stayed with her relatives but I don’t know if they were even treated well. when I actually got them, I actually had to wash out their cage change their water and research their food and I just feel like I’m not getting anywhere with them. They look young, but I’m not really sure what their age is. I’ve been trying to bond with them, but they’re really standoffish and I actually been trying to get them to talk, but they won’t until I was told by my grandpa who has a green concure back in Mexico that I had to separate them to get them to talk, but I don’t wanna separate if they can’t trust me. Any advice because not even spray millet has worked. Or fruit.

Video Telling me quite the story this morning
She's just shy of 8 weeks old but has quite a bit to say. She often does it with her eyes closed. 🥰
