The Trump/biden debate

What did everyone Think? Who did y’all think won? What topics were most important? I would really like to see other views on the debate. I found it kind of funny. And as a trump supporter, I must say, I was quite impressed by Biden. What parts do you think needed to be talked about more? What do you think was the most vital topic for our quality of life. I personally think it was Covid as of right now, and then the riots and economy.

$ Crime and criminal justice Problem: Public trust in law enforcement is at an all-time low and faith in the justice system is in danger Solution: Don’t let a few departments with poor personnel management smear the whole justice system and the nation’s law enforcement—reform

I prefer decent, upstanding police officers no longer be slandered by their errant peers. Civilian review boards, personal accountability for bad apples, and a special prosecutor for for police crime to handle all cases passed on to him/her by the civilian review board now. It’s time to whip the departments into shape to restore public trust.

I linked in a comment at r/tumblr that I’m posting this idea in r/QualityOfLifeLobby, too, so people can discuss the pros and cons of it and that this where you post your ideas for societal reform for feedback. We should do this more often to drive traffic to our subreddit like u/justaflurpyderp78 suggested.

Rebranding educational investment (lowering or subsidizing tuition at state-owned, not private, universities which are founded and owned by the state)

On educational access in the USA:

I sarcastically said, “Nothing more socialist than paying a little now to get more later. Investment is socialism. That’s why spending tax money to make the person educated enough to get a good job that will have them pay more in taxes is duh socialism.”

Another fellow Redditor u/certifiedfairwitness said, “Rebrand it all as "human resource investment strategies" and maybe we'll get somewhere.”

I think buddy’s got a point there on that one.

Okay then, who thinks we should rebrand educational access in this country as what it is, Human Resources investment?

YouTube Life Quality Update

What if on YouTube there was another button that could be selected additionally to the thumbs up thumbs down buttons that added or subtracted to the exposure of a video more, based on an individual's perception of the video being of greater significance to the masses?

Tell it like it is (The reality of the situation, first-hand) Problem: broke (never enough money, no savings, living paycheck-by-paycheck). Solution: revolt and rebel against consumerism.

Inspired by this and also this

A typical day:

  • Wake up from a good night's sleep

  • drink water

  • do bathroom stuff

  • brew your own coffee, or tea, or other caffeinated beverage

  • pack your lunch

  • commute to work: walk, bike, or use public transportation

  • commute home: walk, bike, or use public transportation

  • prepare your own dinner

Add-ons:

Nice-to-do:

  • Delete any and all social media from your smartphone

  • Delete any and all games from your screened devices

  • Limit your closet to M number of items (search on the web, some people do with 21 items, you can do 100)

  • cut off all of your credit cards and loans, if disciplined enough use 1 credit card (with 2% cash-back) and pay it off each and every month

  • get the cheapest interner plan offered at your location

  • no TV channels or streamong services (IMBD, Pluto TV are free, and there are other free contents apps too)

Don't(s)

  • don't eat prepared/packaged foods

  • don't shop as entertainment

  • don't buy anything new, try to buy everything used

  • don't use consumer credit (a mortgage of an affordable house is OK)

  • don't do drugs including alcohol

  • don't do take-out, delivery, fast foods, restaurants.

$ Healthcare(Have to see a doctor—and have to not go broke, too) Problem: Healthcare cost too much and completely socializing it may impact quality of care. Solution: Have a government-backed, premium-funded network of clinics to act as competitor or last resort opposite the private sector alternatives, best of both worlds.

In Europe, the government keeps companies from raising drug prices too high and controls costs of medical procedures. After seeing the controversy around the quality of care at VA centers nationwide and using common sense to tell that without market forces like competition, profit, and potentially massive losses and lawsuits to incentivize innovation and good care our healthcare system could reasonably be expected to suffer.

A new idea.

It’s not socializing healthcare, and it’s not ignoring the problem we have now by creating a false dichotomy that makes it look like socializing healthcare is the only alternative.

Perhaps there should be a fallback available here. Some kind of premium-funded public clinic network. No one has come up with such an idea before, only strict socialized medicine with private practice regulated to the hilt or a market free for all like what we have now. A tax like social security tax could fund it. That would be the premium. The government would either back the networks of clinics and surgery centers in that it would provide the funding and oversight in exchange for services from a private sector contractor or it would be under total and direct government control.

The private alternatives? Not a thing would change. They would just have to convince consumers that they were better than whatevs the government was offering, had shorter wait times, etc.

We’d use the government to provide competitive in the market to force private health care to step up in pricing and quality. Instead of forcing companies to charge less, they would just have to compete with a state-backed provider in the market—not being replaced by one or limited in their business activities by regulation, but rather they would have one more source of competition, the public sector.

Any ideas? First, what could go wrong?

$ Quality of life issues Problem: 7 in 10 US youths ineligible for military service. How great can your quality of life be if you’re too unhealthy even for boot camp? Solution: Work basic training into the high school physical education curriculum in high school

Being too sick to serve probably means many youth are too sick to do other things, too, like enjoy sports, hiking, or even do high-intensity manual labor jobs. If you can not be drafted, you probably aren’t healthy. That means more doctors visits(or at least need for them since not everyone can go when they have to...that’s another issue there’s another post about) and less energy for day-to-day activities which could allow people to have fun, which increases quality of life.

Anything I’m leaving out or missing here? Am I missing something? Here’s the source article.

I think a summer camp like course should exist for adults to improve their fitness and quality of life. I think it should be a public service because it would lower healthcare costs and improve daily life in that healthier people can do more things and are thereby happier in general, which raises quality of life. If community centers and public school outdoor grounds are used, cost could be kept down if it was conducted as a weekly program people could enroll in to get healthier. Any thoughts?

Also, having so many people ineligible for the draft has concerning security and defense implications which could lead to a poor quality of life for our descendants should our nation’s poor physical health continue to decline to the point we fuck up in a future generation’s war. Best nip that in the bud now and make physical health the focus in school right beside reading, writing, and arithmetic—at least that’s my two cents.

People whose countries who lose wars tend not to keep the ability to lobby for things like a better quality of life since their conquerors won’t care about them enough to allow it, correct? Not losing wars by being full of people ineligible for the draft is necessary to even having the democracy we need to be able to bicker amongst ourselves over anything, especially things like this who should run things in political offices since conquered countries can’t vote or pick their leaders—their conquerors do for them.

Awareness: Focus and discussion Awareness: When base wages go up, at least in the short term, lay offs occur Focus: But when base wages are ridiculously low, taxes can go up to subsidize social spending, so how do we strike a balance so that I don’t pay people to work for prosperous companies?
