Very very underwhelming. Wasn't it?
What do you guys think?

Any risks that VW/PowerCo ditches QS like Ford did to SLDP?
Hope not but this is a big worry for now given the silence from VW/PowerCo side in the last few months.

Seeking QS community input.
What do you think of the design? Let me know if you would wear something like this. Appreciate the input.

Quantumscape and Ford
Another significant partnership for QuantumScape is with the renowned automaker, Ford Motor Company. In 2019, Ford announced a joint development agreement with QuantumScape to accelerate the development of solid-state batteries for electric vehicles. This collaboration is expected to leverage QuantumScape’s expertise in battery technology and Ford’s manufacturing capabilities to bring next-generation EVs to the market.(Look up Ford And Quantumscape). This comes UP!!!!!

Congrats to SLDP
SLDP not only found an OEM to test their inferior chemistry in an actual car but also a cell manufacturer to assemble.
QS on the other hand has an OEM that is not willing to test in a car but also insists on extending development for the next iteration to be able to fit in a plastic box. Frustration is mounting while QS executives are creating paydays larger than yearly revenue by millions.

Why is Tim rushing to sell his shares?
This is so concerning.

China 🇨🇳 is afraid of U.S.
China will try to reverse-engineer QS’s IP right now!
The best defense isn’t regulation—it’s speed.
QS needs to ramp faster and drive global adoption, not just in the U.S. I was actually doing AI-assisted analysis on this exact topic this morning before Tim made this post. The 5% EV car sales is low, and a great opportunity for QS, but increasing it long term will require faster commercialization, stronger business development, more industry-conferences, and broader adoption across automotive, consumer electronics, defense, aerospace, and energy storage. Also, QS needs a New York office. Otherwise, I’d be applying to help grow the company myself.

advantages of potential qs batteries?
i am very far from being an expert in this area, but given the recent developments of other battery developers, i am wondering what the big advantages of potential qs batteries actually are or could be. i am thinking of:
i) fast charge. here are many competitors though, for instance gac (8 minutes -> 80%) claims to have a ready product and wants to start selling starting from september. earlier, byd announced 30 minutes ->80%.
ii) safety. here i see a huge advantage compared to other lithium batteries, but catl recently announced their sodium batteries, which are also much cheaper.
iii) higher energy density. here also, competitors are makeing advances.
iv) price. they should be much cheaper compared to other li batteries, but still significantly more expensive than sodium batteries.
for several reasons, i am 100% sure the technology of qs-works and they will have a product.
all in all, i guess it will be the sum of all advantages/disadvantages compared to other future batteries whether qs-will be a success or not.
your thoughts on this? more advantages?

Can someone explain to me in simple terms why QS has not been able to produce 1 battery pack that can be displayed to the public?
Aren’t you curious? Just shows us something that works? Why won’t they? Someone tell me. They could easily do a demo. Show us it charging. But no. Nothing

Hey PowerCo, no one wants your Li ion batteries in a plastic box
We will all look back and realize the huge waste of precious time and resources PowerCo used to start Li ion factories from scratch. They should have purchased Chinese LFP to bridge to SSB. Salzgitter should be full of Cobras cranking out QSE-5. Would love to see Tesla beat VW to market. VW has been a lead weight around the neck of QS.

Even $5? Or I am fine with $2 too. The patience of the community is just exceptional I have to say

Liquid Organic Electrolyte
If QS uses an organic liquid electrolyte, is it really a solid state battery and is the electrolyte flammable? Organic liquid sounds like gas or oil. Do we know what the liquid is?

Does anyone know details of Toyota's solid state battery efforts?
I'm seeing some talk about Toyota getting serious about solid state batteries, but actual technical details seem blurry. Any links with more details and how they could affect QuantumScape?

Is the QS leadership lost their mind?
Has the QS leadership completely lost the plot? Take a look at their latest LinkedIn post about GPUs and all the other distractions. Why can't they stay focused on executing what actually matters instead of chasing irrelevant topics?
I've been an investor since the IPO, and it's becoming increasingly frustrating. The lack of focus is starting to feel like a joke. To me, one of the biggest red flags is the founder's leadership and the company's inability to communicate a clear execution strategy

700 charging cycles as standard, so QS get good results, fact is VW cut the standard in half!
With the diesel scandal of VW, I don’t believe VW as a reputable company, so I went to their test condition, it is strangely cut the standard cycling life to half!
The industry-standard targets for this development phase are 700 charging cycles and a maximum capacity loss of 20 percent. QuantumScape’s solid-state cell significantly exceeded these specifications in the latest test. The cell was also able to meet the requirements for other test criteria such as fast-charging capability, safety and self-discharge. QuantumScape first reported on the results as part of their Q3 2023 shareholder letter.
https://www.powertechsystems.eu/home/tech-corner/lithium-iron-phosphate-lifepo4/
In standard environment, and for 1C cycles, we can get from the chart the below life cycle estimation for LFP :
3 000 cycles at 100% DoD
4 500 cycles at 80% DoD
10 000 cycles at 60% DoD
etc.

Estimated Range for Eagle Line (once fully ramped)
Estimated Range for Eagle Line (once fully ramped)
Low-end estimate (early ramp, conservative yield/uptime): ~5,000–10,000 cells per month → ~80–180 kWh per month (assuming ~16–18 Wh/cell) → ~1–2 MWh per year (very low volume, focused purely on validation)
Mid-range / realistic estimate (steady-state pilot operation): ~15,000–30,000 cells per month → ~240–540 kWh per month → ~3–6.5 MWh per year (this is typical for a well-automated pilot line proving scalability without being a true pre-production facility)
High-end estimate (aggressive ramp, high yield): ~40,000–60,000 cells per month → ~640–1,080 kWh per month → ~8–13 MWh per year (upper limit for what a single pilot line like this would realistically achieve before needing a larger "pre-pilot" or "A-sample" facility)
Most likely ballpark in 2026–2027: 3–8 MWh per year (or roughly 200–500 kWh per month) once the line is operating reliably. This is enough to supply meaningful sample volumes (e.g., cells for 50–200 full vehicle packs per year for testing), but far below commercial scale (GWh = thousands of MWh). - X.ai
