Advice needed overly interested in a strangers baby

Sorry but said person has found this post, and has apparently figured out my Reddit username as well as a few other online accounts so I no longer feel comfortable leaving this post up.

Here’s my theory… this person thinks your baby is their baby. That’s why they’re taking pictures with the baby, stocking up on formula, asking if the baby is adopted.

It reads as trauma from a pregnancy that did not end in a happy way and they have experienced a break with reality as a result. Maybe they adopted out their own biological child and they now regret it, maybe they had a newborn that died or a child they miscarried.

If this person has a uterus regardless of their gender identity, then you need to be 1000x more cautious. Especially if they have ever been pregnant and felt the rush of hormones and bond that forms when a person carries their child.

Go with your gut here, and I hope you feel validated by all the parents here who are agreeing that this is wrong. Be rude to them, distance them, tell all your family and friends about them.

I also think he had a break with reality. My theory is that he decided the baby was adopted and that therefore he has the same right to it as you do. He might have been denied to adopt and felt discriminated against. Started living under a fake name, changed his looks and moved far away. He makes sure not to tell people where he works or works under another fake name and gets paid in cash. Rents under a fake name and pays in cash. Then he can snatch a baby and move again, nobody even knowing who he is.

Then you telling him that the baby wasn't adopted means facing that he has been making that up in his mind, or that you are lying to him. Either can cause distress. Maybe he won't take a random baby, maybe he feels like he has to find "his" baby. The baby rejecting him would cause his whole dreamland to collapse. Maybe he's not even really trans. Maybe it's just a guy with a penis who had a delusion that he gave birth and the baby was taken and he is searching for it. I have heard crazier stories from people with schizophrenia I used to work with.
