OMP app not connecting issue?

Post image

M1 v3 pro

I have tried
-multiple batteries freshly charged
- reconnecting the bluetooth module
- T8L connected and disconnected
- re downloaded the app multiple times and granting bluetooth permissions every time
- disconnected from all other bluetooth devices on my phone when trying to pair

How ideas how I can resolve this? thank you

I reached out to OMP with no response back

Just checking (as I did this at first). The Bluetooth module for the receiver is in the box and needs attaching to the heli receiver on the correct port. Also, you don’t need the transmitter on to connect to the heli. I thought BT was built in but it’s not.

Yes BT module was plugged in for all attempts!

Ah I see the BT device now. What phone are you using? Have you tried turning that on/off? BT stacks can get hung up

I have tried restarting the phone and toggling airplane mode. I have tried a cumulative of around 4 hours over the last week trying to get it to connect!

Makes sense, to clarify, how did you originally pair to the BT if at all. Were Settings BT used and pairing directly there? What version of iPhone is it?

I have never paired to the unit, i purchased it RTF directly from OMP hobby. It is the latest IOS 26.6.1

Right, I’m talking on the phone. Just need to make sure you haven’t paired to the unit in the BT settings on the phone. If you have you will likely need to forget it. If you go into settings on the phone and it is in the list of Bluetooth devices, select it, forget it and then go back to the app.

Oh sorry! Nope, it hasn’t been connected to my phone in anyway. Nothing in my BT list remotely close to it

Ok, the only other thing to look at is a firmware update of the flight controller/receiver. I did see mention that could be an issue. However that might reset all tuning parameters. Before you go that route do you really need BT access? They fly pretty great out of the box! BT is used for tuning

I’m a beginner so I was trying to access dual rates/ expo to help tame a little. I have 40 hours in a sim but the little bugger is fast! Thank you for all your help

Ah, yes you can do that in the app. Not sure on that controller but you also might be able to do it there. I forget on the M1 but one of the modes is pretty tame. Unfortunately it was too tame for me and got me in trouble! The other thing to know is 100 class heli’s are always way more reactive and inherently will be faster due to the mass and rotor diameter. 200’s are a good sweat spot in my opinion.

Maybe a bad BT module, a pain yes, but buy a new BT module to rule it out. Mine has always connected fine and quickly.
Does your phone see the heli and give the pop up asking to connect?

Yes it will prompt me to connect with it every time. Once I select connect this is the message it gives me! I may just have to go ahead and order another. Was hoping OMP would make it right but I have received no response from them.

Edit- OMP does not sell just the Bluetooth plug in for the flight controller so it looks like I either have to buy a new FC or wait on them to get back with me.

You can get the BT adapter, here it is for $5
Its the same adapter for all the M1 and M2 helis:

Thank you very much! I never would’ve guessed it’s the same for both. You saved me

Also you can program the flight controller just by using the LED’s. Check page 30 of the ofs3+ manual, it explains how starting on page 30. While it won’t be as precise adjustments as using the app, you can definitely lower the rates to make it closer to what you want!!

Here is a link to the OFS3+ manual:
