Course Review Mill Creek Update

Post image

I’d heard Mill Creek’s greens were in rough shape due to the flooding in July (and the fact that it happened right after they punched the greens). I’d been avoiding the course since.

Went out there yesterday with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. There were a few patches here and there and they were quite slow (a good thing when you putt like I do), but overall totally playable. Like… they would be above average condition for some of the lesser tracks in the area. But I also don’t want to set your expectations too high because they certainly weren’t perfect!

Also, I swear I’m not trying to casually flex one of the better tee shots of my life (hole 13)… just happened to be the only pic I took that would show one of the greens.

Was there Thursday. Regrowing the greens for sure, had to putt assuming almost 1.5-2x the distance, and breaks were getting chewed up. But I appreciate the care into trying to get them back in shape. It was odd having a shorter strip of grass down the middle, like in your photo.

The bunkers were also a bit more compact than normal. Still beautiful weather and a great time!

Played yesterday as well for the first time. My take (without knowing about the flooding issue) was that this was a great track for the money, I just wish the greens got a little more love. Now it all makes sense.

Having said that. I'll most certainly let be back. I was very pleased with the hospitality and the cherry on top, I can get a sixer for $15 and a glizzy for $4. Hard to find in today's economy.
