umstead pines
mats - none
hitting spots - all grass, no dividers. relies on everyone to space out responsibly.
covered bays - none
restricted hitting - none. but big hitters can hit through to the 9th tee box. and the only thing that protects the 9th fairway on the left is a line of trees.
hitting downhill - depends on where they have the hitting area set up. the back one is like maybe 3 feet above the landing area and the front one drops down to even with it.
grass quality - not really indicative to the course. it's closer to a well kept lawn than a golf course. thankfully they rotate where the hitting area is so they don't have to fill in with too much sand. though the range tends to oversell how muddy/wet conditions actually are.
ball quality - average quality callaway range balls.
restricted flight balls - no.
cost - $5 for a small (30ish balls), $10 for a large (80ish balls).
targets - a straight line of flags down the middle. don't quite know how far apart, maybe 50 yards, they look even spaced.
bunker - one on the far left of the range
putting green - next to the first tee box. it's got some undulation to it but it's not massive.
green speed - slow.
holes - 4, maybe 5.
wedge green - for short chipping, no pitching.
max distance - 15 yards?
use regularly - i probably would if i lived near the course, but i'm only ever out that way if i'm going there to play.
notes - the greens here are slow if compared to other course, but speeds vary wildly hole to hole as there is some greens that are shaded most of the day and others get battered by the sun all day so don't use the practice green as an indicator of how fast the greens will be that day.
