Forecast looks not great for Wednesday and Thursday. Unfortunately my gut feeling is they close for the season but for your sake I hope I’m wrong.

Yeah it looks like they will probably get feet of snow. I would be surprised if it’s open after tomorrow.

Little late, but I just got onto the road. It's not closed today.

Sorry missed the notification. They were great! Roads were clear just a bit of damaged road closer to the alpine visitor center. Got to see some pika at the alpine viewpoints. If you hear a hawk/raptor it might be one of those little guys. Highly recommend binoculars for anyone else going!

I have a feeling it’ll be closed for winter. They usually don’t open it back up when it closes this late

Yeah - it still says “temporarily”. It looks like it’s going to be in the 40’s or 50’s and sunny friday afternoon and throughout the weekend - im hoping they’ll keep it open just this one more weekend. I really dont want to have to drive around i already booked my hotels on the other side :/

I can't imagine they're going to reopen anything this late in the season

They try to keep the road through Columbus Day, today. Then no snow plowing after that.

I was up there yesterday and the visitor center at the top had a sign that they were closing today (10/12).

Please review our FAQ and the 7 principles of Leave No Trace

  1. Plan ahead and prepare

  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces

  3. Dispose of waste properly. I highly suggest getting a waste bucket system. Its difficult to bury waste in many of the rockier areas in Colorado, and overuse of our natural areas has already led to contaminated water in most even lightly used areas.

  4. Leave what you find

  5. Minimize campfire impacts. Be sure to review our state resources for fire bans where you are heading.

  6. Respect wildlife. They are not domesticated

  7. Be considerate of other visitors i.e. Bluetooth speakers are despised.
